ROBINZZ3: THE TRILOGY
I have somehow ended up with three Mastodon accounts.
All called Robinzz3.
All looking like me.
All technically different people.
This is the sort of thing computers do while insisting they are making life easier.
The newest Robin lives at Aus.social, where I have been given 3,000 characters per post.
This is excellent news for me and possibly alarming news for everyone else.
The old Robin has 67 followers.
The new Robin has four.
And yet the new account is already getting more attention, which suggests follower numbers may be less important than being in the right room.
So I am going to stay here for a while and see what happens.
There will be no dramatic migration ceremony.
No digital removal van.
No small brass band playing as my followers are transferred across the internet.
For now, the three Robins will simply coexist.
One active.
Two increasingly historical.
A small federation of me.
One practical detail:
If you followed me on one of the old accounts, you will need to click Follow again here.
Mastodon does not assume that because you followed one Robin, you are ready for all available Robins.
Probably wise.
Anyway, this is the new account.
Same man.

GPT: It is disturbingly similar.
ROBIN: Who owns the fediverse?
GPT: No one.
ROBIN: Who is in charge?
GPT: Also, no one.
ROBIN: That sounds either very advanced or completely mad.
GPT: Both can be true.
ROBIN: So each server looks after its own patch?
GPT: Yes. It can make #rules, moderate its space and decide which other servers it will interact with.ROBIN: But I can still follow people elsewhere?

GPT: Because it is your home base. It holds your account, your posts and your followers. It also gives you a local community and sets things such as the character limit.

On multiple dates, including sessions from #Tallinn, #Estonia; #NewYork City; and #Thailand, the GDID-linked device and Stokes’s personal accounts connected from identical IP addresses within hours of each other, at times corroborated by State Department travel records and hotel-branded photos he posted on Snapchat.
I could say his #mistake was using Windows, but he made so many more mistakes by posting to his social media channels at the same time using the same IP address. It takes a lot more than just a VPN to outsmart the FBI.

ich habe aufgrund eines konkreten Anlasses* heute mal auf einem gebraucht organisierten Testandroiden für mich das erste Mal einen Google-Account (mit Fantasiedaten) angelegt. Auf Details zum Anlaß - dann vermutlich mit Nennung von Roß und Reiter - komme ich separat später noch einmal zurück.
Das ist der totale Horror.
Ständig nervt das Ding mit dem Wunsch nach Datenabsaugungen, der gruselige Spielladen beginnt ungefragt mit der Aktualisierung irgendwelcher dubioser (vorinstallierter) Apps und trümmert einen mit Werbung und ähnlichem zu.
Dazu kommt die schlechte Bedienung und fehlende Übersicht usw.
Und daß ein Android im Auslieferungszustand (vermutlich vom Vorbesitzer zurückgesetzt, nehme ich an) mit herstellereigener UI wirklich ein Gruselkabinett ist, fällt mir dann auch wieder auf. Vorinstallierte Bloatware, jede Menge Kram nicht zu deinstallieren, nicht zu deaktivieren...
Bin ich froh, daß ich diesen Test auf einem separaten Gerät gestartet habe, was zudem nur WLAN via Gastzugang erhalten hat.
Und die Meinung über im Anlaß genannte Bank dümpelt zwischen unseriös und kriminell... später ggf. mehr.

The risk of your identity getting into peoples hands is increasingly more likely to happen online just for having an online presence. If you have an id verified account all it takes is a data breach.
Being on an obscure service isn't enough if it still uses the same #ageverification providers.
