I've started to move over to KeePassXC+2FAS Authenticator because I am tired of paying for a service that isn't even supported on my Garuda Linux install.
Annoying, so I imported my Proton stuff already to my computer install...I just need to get the Android Client set-up next. Switching over my 2FA Codes over to 2FAS, then I can be rid of Proton Pass for good. I'd rather donate to open source projects anyway.
Bonus Content: So KeePassXC does do OTP codes but it doesn't show them in the menu properly. I only found out by double-clicking. Found out on Android there are OTP Codes shown, it would be nice if the Linux App would show them.

#TechIsShitDispatch
Let's talk about the overflowing wheelbarrow of shit I recently encountered while reinstalling a whole bunch of apps onto my #Android phone after deleting them for privacy reasons before going through customs. Buckle up, it's a wild ride.

@thelinuxEXP Here’s a plug for #2FAS Authenticator. I use it on my devices and have had zero issues with it.

2 Factor authenticator app question
I guess I have to look into using a 2FA app at last so...
I am probably late to the party on this, having resisted both Microsoft and Google's offerings up to now. I guess I'm just suspicious of these companies we used to love in the early days.
I've looked at the PCMag review and it seems that their top choice - 2FAS - might fit my requirements. I use both Android (mobile) and Microsoft (laptop, desktop) OS.
https://www.pcmag.com/picks/the-best-authenticator-apps
Has anyone any experience with this app? Any thoughts on it that might be helpful? Use on Windows and/or Android?
Or are there any better ideas?
Cheers!

@BrideOfLinux Good on Proton for making it free and open source.
I’m sticking with #2fas for the convenient desktop browser extension that requests the current code from my phone and fills it in automatically.

A lot of banks in the Philippines still rely on SMS for #2FA, despite how insecure it is—easily spoofed, intercepted, and unreliable. Some use in-app confirmations via their mobile app, but if you lose access to your phone, you're probably locked out. Why not support standard authentication apps like #2FAS, #Aegis, #Bitwarden, #Vaultwarden, or #KeePassXC, which have TOTP support and easy backups? That way, I wouldn’t have to worry about losing access. #MFA #MultiFactorAuthentication #Security

@mountdiscovery You may want to look at an open-source MFA app called #2FAS. It has backup and sync capability to a variety of cloud services or to an encrypted file stored locally. There is also a Chrome extension that will auto-fill the codes for you on your PC or Mac.
-
@kaiserkiwi i would recommend Apples internal password/mfa solution, if that is enough for you (but it's only exportable with MacOS IIRC).
Otherwise there is #2fas, which sounds very secure.
And i'm choosing now #enteAuth, b/c it's exactly, what i need: https://ente.io/auth/

@doekman @jpmens Yesterday I reset all my ~25 2FA accounts while moving to #2FAS and I can't see it is easy all the time. As some have a "Reconfigure 2FA" and you simply scan the qr-code with the new app, some make you jump through some email or sms verification loops. For disabling and then again for enabling the new one.
So, I'm glad I have something a bit more open now than the MS Authenticator before.

I decided to move my 2FA tokens out of #Authy and into #2FAS. Out of spite and curiosity to see how the process would be. I did them manually (disable on each site and re-enable), which is time consuming and lets you jump through a lot of hoops... That last thing is good I guess, for security reasons.
But 3/10 would not recommend the process, but definitely worth checking out what apps are out there for MFA. I settled on https://2fas.com since it has a desktop browser plugin.

The sad #Authy desktop app is finally being put out of its misery. It was astonishingly slow and bloated for something that generated a few numbers every 30 seconds.
I switched to #2fas (https://2fas.com) a while ago and can't recommend it enough, even though it doesn't have a desktop version.

I veckans poddavsnitt pratar vi om hur tvåfaktorsautentiseringsappen ”2FAS” kan ersätta Authy lagom till när Authy pensionerar Windows- och Mac OS-stödet.

Hey iOS :apple_inc: users, what 2fa app are you using?
I'm going to migrate from Raivo to another, actively-maintained open-sourced app which is not a product.
I was using Raivo OTP, but it got purchased by a company, and development has been frozen.
There are some open-sourced apps such as Ente or 2fas, but I was wondering what are you guys using and why.
I have personal backups so lack of import is not a problem for me.

@mattiem I’m working on iOS 2FA app - 2FAS (https://github.com/twofas/2fas-ios). We have a browser extension, Android app and a great discord community 😄👍 #2fas #OpenSource

Inspired by a friend, I decided to make a conscious effort to migrate to #Linux full time as my OS. In the past I have always found something I needed to go back to Windows for as I couldn't figure it out on Linux.
In five weeks I have only had to boot back into Windows once, briefly.
So far I am pleased with the changes I have made to Linux and associated apps.
Below are the key tools I've moved from:
* Windows 11 pro to @[email protected]
* MS Edge to @[email protected] as an awesome browser
* MS Office to @[email protected]
* OneDrive to #NextCloud for file syncing
* Outlook to @[email protected] (best move ever)
* Goolge Podcast to @[email protected]
* MS Authenticator to #2FAS
* SnagIt to #FlameShot @[email protected]
I'm still looking for a decent/simple/quick image editor, and a code editor (using VS Studio at the moment).
I'm delighted with my progress so far.
