#Wise supports Malaysia's #DuitNow QR payments now, which is great - it now supports a bunch of the other ASEAN QR payments too. I assumed that meant they also support Indonesia's #QRIS, but seems not... so that's kind of ass. Thought it's perfect timing ahead of my Bali trip, being able to pay using Wise through QRIS, but I guess not. I could, by using my bank directly though, but obviously that wouldn't have as good rates.

This is a bit embarassing, but how would I even pay using their "digital cards"?
Their website says "just like with your physical card!" but, well, cleary not. It's not in my pocket, to begin with.
How do you usually "take out" a digital card? And then, you just hold your phone to the contact point and it will just work? What if it doesn't? Do you need NFC enabled? Do you need internet?
Please, someone enlighten me.

It's a fully legit attempt from legit companies, but I have some doubts if this approach should ever be taken or even legally allowed.
What I assume is TrueLayer automating bank operations using web browser automation using my credentials. But if I ask my bank, they'd say never give your credentials to any third party.

I've used happily for the last few years Wise to affordably transfer money between Aotearoa NZ and the EU.
Now my parents tried to contribute some money to our son's hobby. The transfer has been rejected by the local (German) bank (the city's Sparkasse). This screams to me like discrimination and/or censorship (maybe to suppress competition on lucrative transactions).
I've just done a bit of research. And it seems illegal since 2014 – though not uncommon – for European banks to bar transactions to/from banks with a different origin nation's IBAN (international bank account number).
It makes me furious!!!
It's like demanding DOCX formats even though PDF or ODT are a legal requirement.

@monniele Absolutely, yes. These companies have quite some risk due to shady customers, I fully understand that.
However, from a professional company I do expect that if e.g., they don't accept the country I am living in, that they simply *tell me that* and don't waste my time with in parts contradicting almost childish repetitions of "please provide a proof of the category A, B, C or D" stuff etc.

Auf Nachfragen, was genau das Problem sei, ob es eventuell bestimmte Dokumente seien sollten, ob vielleicht irgendetwas fehle etc. kommen immer dieselben Textbausteine man solle doch bitte Dokumente der entsprechenden Kategorien hochladen. Sämtliche Nachfragen werden grundsätzlich ignoriert, vermutlich hat beim Training der KI dieser Teil gefehlt.
Ich vermute, sie werden jetzt in ein paar Tagen das Konto schließen. Ob ich das Geld, das derzeit auf dem Konto ist und an das ich jetzt nicht mehr ran komme, nochmal wiedersehe, werden wir dann sehen. Bin nur froh, dass ich dieses Geschäftskonto noch nicht aktiv für Kunden genutzt hatte, uiuiui, das hätte wirklich hässlich werden können.
Komplett unseriöser Laden. Kann man nur dringend von abraten.
