Das dies ein sogenennter KI-Schutz keiner ist war mMn von anfang an klar. Das nun KI das Tool dagegen zusammengeklemperte war ja nur klar. Es geben wohl wenige zu wie unkreativ sie mit KI generierten Dinge prahlen.

I went to the garden centre yesterday. The whole place is now covered with AI created posters. It’s wall to wall slop. All using the same fonts, the same yellow. I preferred the more amateur looking posters they had before.

Den von Lehrpersonen erzeugten #AIslop sehe ich leider auch häufig.

Ich sehe auf jeden Fall keinen großen Wert darin, Studierenden z.B. ki-generierte Übersichtsbilder zu irgendwelchen technischen Sachverhalten zu zeigen und zu erklären, so hübsch und informativ diese vielleicht auch auf den ersten Blick aussehen.

Wenn die Lehrpersonen keine Zeit und Mühe in die Erstellung der Materialien investiert, warum soll ich mir als Student dann die Mühe machen, das anzuschauen.

I have a 4 month teaching assistant job coming up in September and I'm absolutely dreading the use of AI by students. Last year, grading the exams was absolutely dreadful. The exams were take home, and a 1-mark question would get a whole paragraph answer. Obviously AI generated, but no way to proof it (except in the cases where the students were sloppy enough to paste in "ChatGPT said:" into their answer).

Talking to one of my cohort mates who is active in our union, we are now thinking of raising the issue inflation of work required by us because of AI slop. We have a contract negotiation round coming up soon, and so this could get VERY interesting.

So I wanted to look up some detailed dimensions of a tire on my significant other's bike... In the first search results on duck duck go I get this, all websites shown are AI generated slop with marketing links. They have destroyed the useful internet.

And with sarcasm: you don't need to dig wells anymore, such "fun" slurps the water that your plants need.

What was the aim to teach? To show the extreme bias of #AISlop against women and non-white people? To test the students' prejudices?

Reliance on AI results in both worse output and cognitive atrophy.

This article suggests steps to avoid both problems, but I feel very sure that we're in for more polarisation of cognitive abilities. A small minority will flourish while an overwhelming majority will not. Not good.
