Accelerationism on a social level is 100% an issue that AI seeks to further escalate at the rate of violence to our water, to our earth, to other people.

How many ways can we push for more connection to do the things people would normally use AI to generate? How do we make those processes fun, creative, and in meat space together?

Sometimes it's really just a process. We don't always need to know how to code for that. How can that become a collaboration between friends?

Today's topic was "Concerns about technology in the classroom".
The kid's session was just finishing up as I arrived for the parents session.
Going around the table, each of the about 25 people, a mix of parents, school council members, and teachers had an opportunity to voice their opinions, concerns etc.
Officially there was no focus on AI to allow for other topics, but AI use was the majority topic.
Most of the concerns raised were about honesty/cheating, how to use AI appropriately, skill atrophy from AI and other tech use.
I was 3/4 the way around the table. I was the first to speak about the ethical, moral, environmental and industry capture hazards.
Raising those issues I posed this rhetorical question: Is this something we want to normalize with allowing/endorsing it's use and thus the harms?

#ThoughtProvoker 🤔

I am #antiAI in the sense that the disruptive introduction of #LLM platforms into society, and damn the externalities, makes #AI utterly inhumane technology.

What I do not think is very effective, is the anti-AI #activism that involves attacking or 'ostracising' any person who uses AI or is not equally vocal in expressing negative sentiments towards the technology.

People should be pointed to all the dangers and follies of this technology, sure. But repelling all those that use AI, which is nearly everyone since AI is forced down our throat, the activism only serves to push the activist into the fringes, instead of winning people over in a growing movement.

#CALMculture is needed. Constructive activism-led movements, where people are guided on a journey from awareness to delightful #solutions. Offer a path of solution-orientation that open new opportunities, instead of just pointing out harm and laying judgment.

Say you want to build an AI-free fork of an operating system (kernel, userspace and all). Then step two after forking everything's last pre-ChatGPT version would be to backport fixes for all vulnerabilities found in the last ~3.5 years. So what if AI corps funding the search for new vulnerabilities and flooding important projects with CVEs is not only a PR stunt, but also a way to make it harder to cut them out of the picture? 1/2
