  1. This is super rage-inducing. It was a job I was perfect for, had an in with one of their employees, all to be told I did't have enough experience (??) and then this a few months later:

  5. Collecting some #antiai #zines for the 13yo to use at school.

    * 3-part Dutch translation of Lauren Woolsey's "AI Sucks" ai.crutzen.eu

    * Julie Setele's "AI is very bad, actually: A manifesto" juliesetele.com/2024/10/04/ai-

    * Kyle "Guante" Tran Myhre's "Less A, More I" guante.info/2026/08/19/aizine/

We both think it would be nice to label the GenAI posters in his school as AI Generated, but unsure how much trouble I should encourage him to get into in the short term.

  6. #Anthropic Building a #PreCrime System to Surveil #AntiAI #Dissenters, Investigation Shows | Common Dreams

One legal expert said that as AI companies “become more hated, there’s more pressure on them to over-disclose knowing that some of the people they identify for law enforcement shouldn’t be targeted.”

by Brad Reed, September 9, 2026

"The American Prospect on Wednesday published an investigation revealing that top artificial intelligence firm Anthropic is building a predictive surveillance system aimed at tracking activists who are opposed to advanced AI development.

"The Prospect found that Anthropic last month issued a job posting seeking an intelligence specialist to “identify, assess, track, and investigate global threats including geopolitical instability, terrorism, crime, activism, nation-state targeting of the AI sector.”

  11. CW: tech, ai, feminism

i get why people feel a certain 'betrayal' over these last couple of years of basically everyone in tech seemingly 'switching sides' over AI.

i get it. people, communities, companies, projects that you previously respected and connected with now turning heel and becoming something you no longer recognise, just over this one temptation.

    but consider.

it's likely that it isn't a betrayal, but that it's just now occuring to you that the tech world has always been fundamentally made of these same right-wing men with merely a subversive aesthetic on top. they have always been that way.

maybe FOSS hasn't been a grand idealist fight for freedom, but just the tech variation of "don't let these hollywood elites tell me what to do" all along.

maybe "ugh, literally everyone in tech uses AI nowadays, and who isn't is lying" isn't a shitty pro-AI lie to make you feel left behind, but it is actually true, but actually a scathing indictment of the tech world.

maybe tech has always been a fundamentally right-wing space by design, and us carving our own progessive niches is an illusion. perhaps "hacking" as a hobby and culture is inherently supportive of societal hierarchies like that.

and maybe we should now reflect on why and how the general progressive online transfeminine subculture has been so intertwined with the extremely male tech world, its culture and its prevalent toxic masculinity. why your average fedi trans girl has identical hobbies, interests and personality traits as your average male incel 4channer tech bro.

what the fact that the tech world has been so integral to our spaces says about us and about misogyny in our community. why are transfem spaces almost always hacker/programming/tech spaces as well? what does that say about us in a world where tech is increasingly a right-wing identifier?

perhaps we need to analyse what impact computers, the internet and tech culture have had on the culture of queer and neurodivergent communities. how much of our culture is techbro culture and we're only now realising it?

  15. These companies are becoming scummier and scummier. Unfortunately, benchmarks reveal that their models are still be State-of-Art (SOT) when it comes to LLMs... Do you think Chineses companies in the AI world would even dare to do the same? I'm not so sure... Only if forced by the state.

"Job postings and interviews with senior security officials at Anthropic show that the frontier AI lab is building out an extensive monitoring system to keep tabs on activists who oppose the rapid development of artificial intelligence.

In addition to monitoring activists in the vicinity of Anthropic executives and keeping tabs on protests near physical Anthropic assets, the firm is also implementing a “pre-crime” approach, attempting to predict incidents before they happen. In some cases, that also means reporting suspects to police before a crime occurs. Anthropic did not respond to the Prospect’s request for comment.

Anthropic’s plans to surveil dissent are at odds with the firm’s efforts to cast itself as the responsible alternative to OpenAI. At the beginning of the year, the Department of Defense and Anthropic engaged in a high-profile dustup over Anthropic’s refusal to allow the military to use its tools for mass domestic surveillance and autonomous weapons. That tension seems to have eased as Anthropic hires for “national security sales” positions, seeking to restart military contracts. The increase in threat monitoring of domestic opponents fits with a renewed focus on national security."
