It's quite a selfish suggestion on my part but if you end up doing Xenia again, you should draw her blowing up a data center bc fuck AI :3

  2. I'm aware there's a typo in the forum URL, at least you know I'm not using AI to write any of this :)

  3. my least favorite fucking Instagram trend has arrived this year!

every year or so the boomers post some shit like "I do not consent to Mark Zuckerberg using my data, post this on tour story too or else Mark Zuckerberg will use your data"

this year it's Meta AI flavored and my friends are convinced that by posting something on their story they can opt of AI training

I used to use this opportunity evangelize the fediverse but I've pretty much given up, the sheep would rather use Instagram and believe there's a magic spell that protects you from the zuck and AI

  4. Hey!
All the valiant defenders of humanity against the clanker hordes who are building the #AntiAi tools for websites...
I think my #Ai just collectively insulted your epistemological hoards.

"The dirty secret of this kind of monitoring is that the hostile-to-scrapers sites are rarely where the signal is. Your highest-value sources are the ones that want to be read by machines"
OOUF! Right in the soft organic ballsack/ovaries

    Addendum:
"Anti-AI tarpitting tools like #Nepenthes, #Iocaine, and #CloudflareAILabyrinth attempt to trap crawlers in endless mazes of Markov-chain gibberish.
This strategy is inherently brittle because scraper maintainers can easily update their ingestion pipelines with simple depth limits, cycle detection, or AI-filtering rules to bypass the traps entirely. In the end, running these traps mostly just burns your own server CPU, risks getting your site de-indexed by legitimate search engine bots, and hurts collateral traffic."

  5. CW: AI discourse & ableism

in the face of AI discourse, a lot of my regular progressive friends suddenly started to sound uncomfortably conservative, and that's beginning to worry me as an autistic person

    like no dude, …

    • it's not okay to ridicule or shame people who don't like social interactions.
    • even moreso, enjoying social situations or interacting with others is not a prerequisite to being a human person.
    • doing work the difficult, manual way is not more ethical, honourable, human or valuable than using assistive technology.
    • making art is not the ultimate purpose of humanity, and people who do not make/enjoy/consume art are not lesser humans.
    • "just go outside and talk to people" is not an option for everyone nor is it inherently valiant or morally better than not doing so.
    • not everyone can "just write/draw/do it yourself".
    • using a computer is not an indicator of being a creep, a loser or a failure.
    • there is nothing superior or holy or pure about humanity.

note how none of these things mention generative AI at all? i made no statements at all about whether I think generative AI use is good or bad or whether it's appropriate in these situations.

I just listed a bunch of obviously ableist statements and behaviours I see people make constantly now in the context of AI.

the thing is, it doesn't matter whether you're using these in a conversation about generative AI, your arguments still carry some awful implications.

  6. idk when @waterfox.net became pro-AI. Being a soft fork, it wasn't free of Mozilla's slop, but issues INHERENT to "#AI" (diffusion/large language models) were seemingly grasped and considered.
One more "#foss" project lost to the world-killing theft machine. :(

  7. Pennsylvania Capital-Star: More data center proposals keep coming to Pennsylvania. So does the outcry.. “In January, as her curiosity about data centers grew, longtime Pennsylvania environmental activist Karen Feridun turned to Facebook to create a group she hoped would allow those who felt similar to ask questions, too. Two months later, the group surpassed 500 members. And in the weeks that […]

  8. @itwasntme223 you could add the tag #antiAI

  9. CW: Linux AI events, question

Seriously asking, what's the status on the whole #Linux #AI situation?

What I want to know is: what is the status on the Linux kernel situation itself? Is there any significant movement right now or are we still in the stunlocked crisis phase?

The way I see it, a hard fork of the kernel would be next to impossible, right?

    • Is there any internal political movement in the Linux Foundation about this?
    • Is there an alternative kernel or fork that people are flocking to now at large?
    • Right, how's the Hurd's situation these days?
    • For that matter, what's the GNU Project's stance on machine-generated code and assets in general?
    • How will anti-AI distribution projects like Gentoo and perhaps soon Debian handle it if the kernel itself contains LLM-generated code?

  10. @caramida.bsky.social

A tool made 100% by and for fascists should never be considered by others.
A descriptive term cannot be evil FUNDIMENTALLY, which is why slurs are sometimes reclaimed by those they oppress. AI cannot ever be "reclaimed" as such.

  11. 'ShieldFont is an open-source project that offers a practical opt-out from unauthorized AI training and disrupts what is collected when that choice is ignored. It swaps 45.8% of content words (around 24.4% of all words) in a page’s source code for other (partially) random words, while the font restores the original text on screen. Readers see the work as intended; mass scrapers collect an altered version.'

(Unfortunately, it's an accessibility nightmare, but I just like to see the ideas and innovation going around.)

  12. @scalzi.com

Great. Now those gamers should get mad at open source emulator devs who make it hard to play old games without running code they gleefully sloppify.

  13. @bowsette.bsky.social

In any other moment in history this would be a huge red flag.

But when even open source devs lick the AI/LLM boot constantly, I'm inclined to believe that yes, you are one of the few sane ppl left.

  14. @publii This post seems to imply that Publii's public stance toward AI is in support of AI. Can you clarify this please? If this is the case, I will have to move my website(s) to use a different tool. #NoAI #antiai
