This ended up being quite long, i apologise.

Again I ask, what are we defining as "insufferable" here? I've gotten sneered at for asking some projects to implement strict anti-AI policies like I asked for a kidney. I admit I'm no programmer, but I dedicated myself to use FOSS stuff as much as I could specifically because of AI. I knew Windows was spyware for years and took steps to counter it, but AI finally made me dive into Linux proper.

Half a year into it and I was learning a lot, feeling pretty good about the whole thing. Que me realizing half my software is made by those totally fine using the fascist machine, but even the kernel devs don't give a damn. No matter how kindly the issues are relayed, nobody seems to care, or they try to "compromise" to shut everyone up. Yeah, I'm just about done hearing excuses for when its "okay" to use AI.

Even still, though, I don't go around yelling at people. I try to be calm as I ask maintainers to refrain from the machine created by bad people for exclusively bad things. I try not to get angry when the most objective facts about the harm it causes are pushed aside like they're nothing. I try to be the bigger person.
Then I see people complaining about the "anti-AI crowd" being annoying, so immature for focusing on the one issue and thinking they're doing something. "Must be nice having no other worries and seeing the world like this."

You're right, there are endless issues in the world. Neither you nor I can tackle them all. I take opportunities to help others in real life when I can, but I've become very passionate about open software since I started using it and want it to be a safe haven away from big-tech's bullshit. That IS the point of FOSS, right??
If anything, its made me appreciate devs more. I don't expect perfection from people making stuff for free, and having tried and failed to learn coding twice, I hope I never take the work of open source developers for granted. All I ask is they give a middle finger to the corporations they claim to be different from. All I ask is they respect their fellow artists enough to be angry at those pushing AI, not the people rallying against it.
