  1. 👀 Contemporary networked image cultures are inseparable from platform capitalism.

The international conference «React & Respond» (Zurich, 2–4 Oct 2025) explores the aesthetics, politics, and labour of platform capitalism with scholars and artists across disciplines.

  2. #CallForPapers: Consuming the #Gothic Conference

How is #consumption reflected in Gothic #literature, #film, and #art? Is it always monstrous, or can the way we consume forge a sense of community? What does consuming in relation to the Gothic mean to us today?

Proposals wanted for 20 minute research papers, 5 minute lightning talks, and creative writing pieces (of whatever length you like!).

  5. Just musing on the cavalcade of themes in this season of #PerryMason. In addition to the moody #noir pastiche aesthetic, we have a delightfully messy #lesbian romance, a pre-Zoot Suit uprising storyline about corrupt legal scapegoating of #MexicanAmericans, a complex plot about #BlackLA and its social dynamics of #class and #gender, and the #JohnGarfield-esque simmering righteous White guy and his rebellion against social pressure to be aspirational and upwardly mobile. Oh and at the heart of the crime might be #oil. Somebody should unpack all this and write about it....

  6. The Videogame Industry Does Not Exist, my new book with @themitpress is out now! This is my attempt to intervene in how we talk and think about gamemaking as not just an entertainment industry but as a cultural field, built up from complex tensions between commercial and creative pressures and identities.

It's open access, and you can read it here: direct.mit.edu/books/oa-monogr

I wrote a long thread on Twitter with a bunch of excerpts which I won't reproduce here, but it's there if you're interested: twitter.com/BRKeogh/status/164

  7. I've moved over to the instance, so here's a new #introduction post:

I've been the Fellow for Public Engagement at #TyndaleHouse, #Cambridge, since September, having been a speaker and writer on media and the #Bible for more than 25 years.

    I'm nearing the end of a #PhD
in #PracticalTheology (Cambridge Theological Federation) exploring ways of using the prophetic literature in media engagement, focusing particularly on Amos. This combines #BiblicalStudies, #Philosophy, #CulturalTheology, and #MediaStudies within a #PracticalTheology framework.

I'm also an associate with Living Leadership and a lead tutor for Formation School, Southampton.

  8. #Introduction time! My name is Yasmine Hachimi and I'm a #PublicHumanities Fellow at the Newberry Library.

My research explores the eroticization of Tudor queens in a range of popular genres, from #earlymodern letters and plays, to tv and #fanfiction today. I also consider the affordances and limitations of color-conscious #casting in #perioddrama.
