Old Reddit is making people log in now to use that platform.

Let's get it clear, when they all force you to log in, they get your email, perhaps phone number, and other information they can sell.

Almost every platform forces you to make an account. And I see this as a "precursor" to the age (ID) verification that came after.

#Atlassian is promoting (I.e. discontinuing the current feed) „New ways to stay on top of release notes“.

I should know better than to work on #Power Equipment when already annoyed. I'm replacing the carburetor on a 34 y.o. Snapper mower (love this machine). Fairly simple, right? But I can't quite access the 2 bolts holding it in place. Maybe remove the gas tank for easier access, nah..missing something, it won't budge. After sweating profusely and cursing up a storm, I decided to walk away and try again another day. #HomeOwnership #garage #SmallEngineRepair #Aggrivation #Rant

Hoy de mañana aparecieron dos perros (la semana pasada habian aparecido otras dos perras pero tenian dueño y se las llevamos, estaban a más de 3km de su casa, se habian perdido por el temporal y ni publique sobre ellas), pero estas de hoy no las pudimos agarrar y fue angustioso, no sabemos que fue de ellas ni si las habrán atropellado. A propósito de todo el tema, mi cuñada nos mandó una captura que le mandaron de la protectora de animales en Mercedes con mensajes de gente que tiene perros y se los quiere nacar de encima. Las protectoras estan para rescatar perros huérfanos, que nacen en la calle, que por alguna razón se perdieron, estan muy lejos de sus casas y fueron lastimados, etc. No estan para recibir perros de gente que los tuvo del principio y los crió en familia, no se como te dá el rostro para abandonar asi una mascota, ni la gente en situacion de calle abandona asi a las mascotas, esta gente me indigna mucho. I really hope there is a hell and that every single AI-pusher-billionaire is going there pretty soon.

One of my boxing coaches bought a brand new notebook, complains it is too slow, I check out the model specs and it seems fine. I ask him for a few ss of the system specs on windows: less ram than it was supposed to have and the SSD got replaced with an HDD.

Dear lord, I hate this timeline.

Bloody frustrating trying to find stuff that's not LLM-tainted now.

I want to build a launcher, ultimately for Wayland, though if I can support X11 with it too… fantastic, there are plenty of X11 window managers that could benefit from something that reads FreeDesktop.org .menu / .desktop files and builds up a menu tree to navigate.

I'm thinking of building this in C++, since gcc have, for now, said they will decline "legally significant LLM content". So far the only bit I know that has ingested slop there is Fortran.

Years ago, I'd have reached for Qt for this, but they embrace the slop now.

WxWidgets? Just checked their Github page… "A user you have blocked has contributed" (claude).
Tk? Wayland is a work-in-progress. X11 only for now.

I struggle with my posture because of my height (had a couple injuries already). Yet, fixing it is easier than people say. The problem is, when walking properly I look feminine and being trans in #Venezuela is not safe. So my walking is healthy when I'm pretty much alone. 🫠

i hate my disabilities. cuz of my dumb brain i prolly will never be able to participate in MAPs (those cool group animation thingies), for example. cuz i cant simplify my art to make it into a proper animation plus i cant draw lineart - i only paint. 'tis all my bitchy brain which just doesnt allow me to do it, on the physical level. it sucks so much cuz usually people find simplifying and linearts a lot easier and cuz of my shiteload of traumas i've the opposite >_> and nay, i cant train myself to do it. cuz i've tried. and tried. and failed again and again. ig it'll get fixed on its own only if my brain will heal which is never gonna happen cuz ig 'tis not even traumas - just how this bitch works. it sucks, it annoys me, it makes me feel sad and miserable. i fucking cant have fun with cool people just cuz i cant fucking simplify things, tf is wrong with me!

I just realized I've stopped looking at women. I've stopped trying to be attractive to them or even talk. I'm not asexual but it's dangerous to be openly trans in #Venezuela so why would I date if that means pretending to be a man? I already look more like a femboy. My word count for the last ~6 months has been in the negatives; because I've been editing! Which shows exactly what I hate about measuring in word counts.

While they're the only real objective measurement we have for our stories as writers, the word count doesn't determine the worth of your novel. Maybe you only need 40k words to tell an effective story, or maybe you need 400k!

Same goes for daily word counts. My daily has been well into the negatives while I've been trimming the fat from my novel, and as I start plotting and researching for my next book. Sometimes life just gets in the way and you can't find time to write more than a couple words in a few months. And that's okay! Breaks are allowed.

But word counts shame you for not just putting your head down and writing, ignoring everything else that goes into a novel. Including the author's mental health.

At the end of the day, really all that matters is that you're having fun telling your story, rules and expectations be damned.
