Pro-tip: if you live in an apartment building, it pays to customize the look of your front door. This way, when #Amazon shits the bed again, the picture they have won't match your door, and you'll have proof positive that they delivered somewhere else.

In my case, I just put a mat in front of my door. When I see a picture of a door without a mat, I know they messed up. I guess someone could steal the mat, but they haven't.

(The door numbers are not always visible, so I don't rely on that.)

PS: Once you revive a dud battery, it won’t have a great capacity. You can generally get back some of that by cycling it a few times.

I use the Opus BT-C3100 which is a handy device for all sorts of rechargeable chemistries and form factors, including 1865s.

My opus has a refresh option which will do three cycles automatically.

If your rechargeable batteries won’t charge, don’t give up hope. Modern chargers require the battery to have some small bit of voltage to start charging. So if you connect (in parallel +,+ and -,/-) a dud to a good battery for 30 seconds or so, that might be enough.

I built this simple rig and went through a dozen duds and got most of them to bounce back enough to get my Opus to take them. Huzzah!

Before going to the trouble and expense of ordering a new walking deck for your treadmill and drilling all the holes in it (because these things come undrilled for... reasons) it's a good idea to see if maybe your existing deck has the holes drilled all the way through and you can just... flip it over and use the other side for a few thousand more miles.
