My town has a small #airport with a flight school, so traffic overhead is relatively constant. Sometimes it's really annoying.

Being on social media for about 6 years has given me a better understanding of how fortunate I am to be "annoyed" by a #plane overhead, rather than "terrified" of #aircraft overhead. My brothers and sisters in Ukraine, Lebanon, Palestine and more do not have the luxury of being annoyed. A #drone passes overhead & they take cover.

There's something that annoys me about stories like these, which we see many of each time something politically reviled happens in the #USA.

We get #Americans saying they're going to #move to #Canada.

We get #American #politicians saying they're going to #secede from the #US and join Canada.

On and on and on...

But it never seems to even occur to any of them that #Canada gets a say in this. Don't secede only to find that Canada's response to being asked to absorb a few U.S. #states is "thanks, but no."

This applies to lots of types of sites, but it particularly pisses me off with mainstream news organizations.

Many of them publish content to the web, but they absolutely refuse to actually link to anything else on the web. Any #links you happen to see in their #news #stories are only to other things on their own sites - category links, indices, search for a given name, etc.

A story about a contractor issuing a public letter to a city council about cost overruns on a project and pushing back against the council's misleading public statements? "Why on earth would you expect us to link from that story to any of the following?"

1) the background on the project in question, or the city's info page on it
2) the contractor's website
3) the contractor's publicly posted statement
4) the city's publicly posted statement that the contractor is replying to
5) hell, even the city's main site page

It's infuriating. Are you scared to link to other, relevant sites? Why, do you think the web's links are one-way streets and the visitor will never come back?

There is a personality, or social style, or something, that I find unpleasant and very challenging to deal with. IDK its real name, but I think of it as smth like "instant and constant disapproval".

There are people who seem to use this as their coping mechanism for life. They find reasons to be annoyed with their environment and people in it. They don't hide it. There might be a small number of people they are generally pleased with, but I've seen that often those people just do what the constantly-annoyed person wants, which is of course quite nice.

I assume this approach to life gives people a sense of control or familiarity. I also think it might, for some people, be due to basically innate ongoing discomfort due to whatever biological processes lead to colicky baby syndrome, DMDD, and a host of related conditions.

In any case, it takes a toll on me. I find it deeply frustrating. I've spent a lot of my life learning to avoid those people, because I am almost never able (or inclined) to spend the time and energy needed to figure out how to live up to their internal standards day by day.

So what if two hours ago you asked someone to move an escalated issue they are looking at to another application, where it clearly belongs, so that management doesn’t start hounding you with questions and requests for updates that you will not be able to give and they ignored you (why?) and now you are both getting hounded by management with questions and requests for updates that you cannot provide because the issue does not belong with you and yet still they haven’t moved the fucking issue to the other application.

So what if the only thing on this Earth that you want to do is leave this fucking office and go work from home but you cannot for at least another three hours.
