Can't recommend enough, if you're into taking pictures of things, to print them off and give them to people. Seriously, it's awesome.

If you send somebody a jpeg, you'll get a thumbs up react.

If you hand them a physical photo they can hold and touch you actually get a real reaction, a real smile, and something they can put in an album or stick to their fridge.

It's the most special with film prints, but any old jpeg will do. People love physical media, it's that simple!

I learned how to write songs when I was a kid by listening to Muddy tapes, and punk tapes.

Muddy may have been the most punk rock motherfucker of all time.

This was originally a CD compilation released in 2007, and it is FULL of artists I’ve never heard of before.

Bands that cover every umbrella you want to open under the #postpunk moniker.

There’s spirited #newwave , #dark #minimalism , #industrial , dance-y #electronic post-punk, and everything in between.

One song to the next is its own thing, and it’s fucking fantastic. Other than Severed Heads, there’s not a single band on here that isn’t new to me.

I particularly enjoy the Microfilm and Chainmale tracks.

Cannot recommend this enough, and this particular friend has earned a free dinner.

Decided to spend a beautiful weather day by taking a day-trip down island, and the majesty of where I live was on full display today.

Found a handful of things I’ve been hunting for quite some time, but THIS was my favorite find of the day.

Manic Pop Thrill is the only album of theirs I’m SUPER passionate about and care to own, and I finally got one today.

Jagged, nervous, guitar driven #80s power pop of the highest order.
It’s abrasive, but very catchy.
A level of awesomeness that was never matched by any of those subsequent albums.

One of the most overlooked classic albums of any genre.

If you don’t know it, or you like The Undertones, spend some time with it.
You’ll like it as much if not MORE than anything that band did.

Last spin of the night goes to one of the most important figures in the history of American music.

Recorded in the dead-ass dog days of summer in 1960 in Newport, Rhode Island, a one hour drive away from where I grew up in Franklin, Ma, and a place where I was once arrested for urinating on a police car.
I was only 19, so please don’t think it was yesterday.

Whatever #blues Muddy was singing that day some 36 years prior DID NOT compare to the blues I was singing that night in the Newport Police Department.

I wrote some bangers that night that would have made Muddy proud.
Songs like “Please Don’t Beat Me With A Rubber Hose Twice”, “They Never Gave Me My One Phone Call”, and “My Stream Was A Lot Stronger Than I Thought”.

Anyway… this record is essential for true blues fans.

My birthday is on Wednesday, and a friend of mine just swung by the house to give me this as an early birthday present.

He told me “It’s always 50/50 if I’m ever getting you a record for a present. I never know if you have it or not. I know you like this boot series though, so I took a gamble.”

I DID NOT have it, and yes, I do REALLY like these Radio Broadcast releases. For “unofficial” recordings, all of them that I’VE bought (and I have a bunch of em) have been really good sound-quality wise.

And this one’s no different.

Five really great Syd solo tunes, my favorite of which has always been Baby Lemonade, which, has guitar by David Gilmour, as the studio album version does.

I wonderful early birthday present.

A masterful songwriter, and a dude that had a LOT to do with a young Bob Dylan hitting the stage at Cafe Wha? in Greenwich Village.

It still shocks me how many people think that “Everybody’s Talkin’” is a Harry Nilsson song, when in fact it was Neil who wrote it.
That song only became a hit when Nilsson’s version was featured in the 1969 movie Midnight Cowboy.

SUCH a hit that Neil’s self-titled ‘66 album (THIS ONE), was reissued under the name Everybody’s Talkin’, in order to capitalize on the film’s (and song’s) success.

The album however is much more than that one song.
The Dolphins is absolutely beautiful, as is Neil’s take on the traditional tune “Sweet Cocaine”.

A laid back and stellar 38 minutes.
Just such a great record.

Some Dino Jr., Husker Du, My Bloody Valentine and Pale Saints vibes, with great guitars. Super ragged and punchy sounding.

John Peel heard their early demos and was so blown away by them that he brought them in Maida for a Peel session, which they recorded four songs for in 1988.

I desperately need a copy of their 1992 album Simmer.
So if anybody out there sees or comes across one… let’s make a deal.

WASHINGTON (AP) — "A plan by the Environmental Protection Agency could make it harder for the public to learn about and comment on proposed AI data centers that have sparked backlash in communities across the United States and transformed the midterm election landscape.

"The EPA proposal would eliminate a federal requirement that states notify the public and seek comment before issuing #AirPollution permits for data centers and other #IndustrialFacilities. States could still offer opportunities for public comment, but the EPA would no longer mandate them as a condition for states to grant permits.

"Critics say the move could thwart local residents from learning about proposed data centers or making their voices heard before projects are approved and construction begins. The move comes during a widespread backlash as #TechGiants build hundreds of massive #ServerWarehouses to fuel #ArtificialIntelligence and #CloudComputing.

" 'By eliminating the long-standing federal requirement for public notice, this proposal continues efforts by the Trump administration to turn its back on the fundamental EPA principle of transparency,' said Mike Koerber, a former deputy director of EPA’s air quality office.

"If made final, the plan could create 'an unlevel playing field where citizens in one state are kept completely in the dark about new data centers and heavy industrial emissions in their backyards, while neighboring states maintain oversight,' he said.

"Under the EPA plan, states with weak or no requirements for #PublicComment could speed permits for data centers, #PowerPlants and other #PollutionSources without consulting the public or even informing communities where the facilities are located, Koerber and other critics said."

Super siked to snag this today.
When I was a kid, I bought a cassette version of this released by Strange Fruit. I drilled that tape into the ground, particularly that version of “Fire In Cairo”.
[cassette I had pictured below as well]

I know there’s probably been about 50 different physical releases of these four Peel Sessions songs from ‘78, but I’ve never had a chance to replace my cassette copy until today.

These performances are great.
A young, scruffy, three-piece iteration of what would over time become one of the most important bands in the history of music.

And again, I can’t stress this enough, this is my favorite version of “Fire In Cairo” that’s ever been committed to tape.

Great sounding pressing too.
Beyond pleased.

A masterful #country #folk singer/songwriter, particularly known for “The Hockey Song”, which for years, has been played at every Maple Leafs home game.

He smoked 100 cigarettes a day, drank heavily, and was fully himself 2000% of the time.

He even refused to remove his signature black Stetson hat when he met the Queen of England (and they were OK WITH IT!).

He maliciously undressed “turncoat Canadians”; Canadian artists who went to the States to further their careers and conduct their business, and famously eviscerated the Juno Awards Board of Directors (please see next post for his vitriolic letter).

In the very early 2000s when I lived in NYC, I used to frequent a great bar called The Grand Press, 284 Grand Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Over time, I slowly became infatuated with one of the bartenders there, a young, beautiful black girl named Yessica (not a typo).
She was stunningly gorgeous, had an incredible body, an infectious personality, & loved music (& musicians).

After a month or so, I worked up the courage to ask her out.
She responded with the following:

“Do you like Otis Redding?”

“Of course”, I said.

“Name me 10 songs, & you can’t name THAT song.”

I proceeded to name about TWENTY songs, & even sexily sang her a few bars of “My Lover’s Prayer”.

The following 6 months were the most wild & passionate days of my life.

I’m always willing to try something I’ve never heard of if it has a NUMERO GROUP label on it.
More often than not, it tends to be a very satisfying experience.

That is the case here.

A collaborative project between members of Duster and Dirty Art Club, Crusher is a record that’s very melancholic, restrained and sleepy. A super dream-like, hazy kind of #Slowcore with warped and warbly edges.

A wonderful late-night #ambient dream-pop album, or if you just wanna chill SEVERELY. It’s so damn comforting.

A pleasant surprise that I’m really enjoying, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it makes my favorite albums of the year list.
If you like this kind of music AT ALL, you’ll REALLY like it.
