Purple vinylWords cannot adequately describe how much I love this new Mike D album.
It’s fucking AWESOME.As somebody who has been mainlining The Beastie Boys since the late 80’s, this album absolutely made my heart soar.
Knowing that SOME member of the Beasties is still out there, making fresh, exciting, and vital music for today and now is a very reassuring and glorious thing.
This is a much more contemporary and dare I say…stranger? kind of music than the Beasties.
Creating with his two sons by his side, this is what’s been described as “post-electronic” groove album. However, it’s way more than that.
It’s #psychedelic , it’s #punk , #indierock , glitchy electronica… it’s amazing.
A million thank yous to Mike D’s sons, who got him out of the sadness from Yauch, and back to making music.
