Ihr kennt ja mittlerweile alle diese KI-generierten Bilder, die (lokale) Events bewerben sollen. Alles sieht gleich aus, egal ob Fahnrnweihe der Feuerwehr oder Techno-Rave.
Oft fehlen auch so Dinge wie das Datum des Events - oder man kann wegen den Farben und Schriftarten einfach nichts lesen.
Heute hab ich zum ersten Mal ein Bild gesehen, bei dem die wichtigsten Daten noch mal mit roten Rechtecken (Paint) umrandet sind.
Und die denken sich dann "ja, das ist die beste Lösung!"

There has been lots of commentary on Linus Torvalds' remarks at the (Linux Kernel) Maintainers Summit, so I won't go there except to say that I agree with most of the negative takes I've seen.
However, when the participants were asked to summarize their worst pain point in kernel development, Thomas Gleixner's comment struck me. As written up by Jonathan Corbet of Linux Weekly News:

Searching for “How does [popular technology] work” on #YouTube is dead. #AI #slop has killed it thoroughly.
It’s absolutely dead. Every popular query is overrun by AI voice-overs, AI illustrations, AI animations; nothing can be trusted. There is absolutely no way you can tell if an AI explainer on a technology is correct, or if you’ve been shown entirely wrong information, unless you already know how it works, in which case you wouldn’t be searching in the first place.
The best bet is to look for videos that are more than 4 years old. And never, EVER click on a Shorts explainer.

Oh dammit. I'm still rather tied to gmail for various reasons, but I'm absolutely intolerant of unreliable systems that eat significantly too much energy, so I diligently turn everything "AI" off.
I'm also rather sensitive to unnecessary push notifications, so I have historically spent time making sure that the most important people in my life can reach me urgently, and the rest can wait for me to sift through the nonsense in my inbox.
I finally got around to checking why I've been getting a deluge of email notifications recently.
Turns out there are only three options for notifications in gmail now: off, on and slop. Basically I have to turn on all the slop features to get the notifications I want.
Bastards.
