Домашнее облако: мой опыт переезда из экосистемы Apple

Меня зовут Павел, и я пользователь Apple с 10-летним стажем. И два месяца назад я решил переехать с iCloud на домашний сервер с Open Source ПО. Приходил я к этому постепенно. Долгое время я пользовался iPhone, iPad, MacBook, AirPods и другой яблочной техникой, и не знал забот. Вся моя жизнь была залита в iCloud, я там хранил и файлы, и документы, и номера кредиток, и фото за почти всю жизнь. Но со временем в мою голову стали закрадываться сомнения: зависимость от одной корпорации — не очень хорошая идея. Кто имеет доступ к моим данным, что они с ними делают, как это проверить? А что, если завтра Apple решит грохнуть мой аккаунт? Или обновление превратит мою технику в кирпич? Они же точно этого не сделают, они солидная компания! Ведь точно, не сделают?.. И можно было бы просто сделать бэкапы всего и успокоиться. Но я стал задаваться более глобальными вопросами: а насколько сегодня кофмортно можно жить, не завися от продуктов корпораций? Хотя бы в цифровом плане. Можно ли пользоваться исключительно Open Source софтом, контролировать свои данные, и при этом не потерять привычного комфорта? Так я решил начать свой эксперимент. Цель я поставил масштабную — переехать полностью на Open Source ПО на компе, телефоне, ноутбуке и связать все это в экосистему. И начать я решил с домашнего облака.

Ich hatte bis vor kurzem einen collabora Server am laufen der die online Bearbeitung von Office Dokumenten im Browser für mehrere Vereine ermöglicht hat. Der Server wurde schon länger nicht mehr geupdated und vor ein paar Tagen von "Hackern" übernommen.

- @joplinapp, @zettlr, and #paper for #notes
- #Everdo for to-do lists (although I've suspected for a while that #GTD isn't all it's cracked up to be and am looking for a better alternative)
- @libreoffice and occasionally in-browser Nextcloud for #office software
- I avoid #AI most of the time for personal use, making an exception when I have to correspond with the #bureaucracy. Although tbh even this use of AI makes me uneasy.

Migrated personal calendars to semi-my-own Nextcloud. I have very strong feelings on both Nextcloud's idea of locale/time/date configuration (clearly whoever made bunch of Europe locales with 12h clock format is not particularly familiar with Europe) and of how synchronization to Android must be done to local calendar with DAVx5 (it took several tries until I had all mine and friends' calendars exactly once), but... that's a price for freedom.

@AlfNoProblem actually scratch that, you know what, #Nextcloud is kind of a pain in the ass to properly set up, and can require too much attention. Also if you don't all the features it's overkill. I hope they work towards a version that's fire and forget.

What you should really do to back up GrapheneOS is find a nice camouflaged USB-C drive. Use that to back up your phone on, it'll be encrypted, something you can hide in plane sight. Works 100% offline.

Perso j'utilise @zaclys pour du perso hébergé et configuré chez eux, plus du @ouvaton pour de l'installé et configuré par mes soins en pro. Ouvaton passera en mode ferme d'ici (très ?) peu pour supprimer les contraintes administration et de mises à jour, que demander de plus ?

Fast richtig, aber da werden gerade öffentlicher und privater Schlüssel verwechselt: Zum Verschlüsseln einer Mail an jemanden brauchst du dessen öffentlichen Schlüssel. Das Passwort-Feld in Mailvelope schützt dagegen normalerweise deinen privaten Schlüssel, wird zum Entschlüsseln eingehender Mails und ggf. zum Signieren gebraucht.

Wenn du dir selbst eine verschlüsselte Mail schickst, verschlüsselt Mailvelope sie für deinen öffentlichen Schlüssel; beim Öffnen fordert es dann die Passphrase deines privaten Schlüssels an. Das ist also erwartetes Verhalten, kein Hinweis darauf, dass mit öffentlichem Schlüssel „nichts stimmt“.

Zum sauberen Testen würde ich zwei Mailkonten und zwei getrennte PGP-Schlüsselpaare verwenden: Konto A verschlüsselt an den öffentlichen Schlüssel von Konto B, B entschlüsselt mit seinem privaten Schlüssel und antwortet umgekehrt.

Ein zweiter Firefox-Tab ist dafür nicht wirklich getrennt. Auch Multi-Account-Container oder ein privates Fenster können je nach Erweiterungs- und Profilspeicher zu Überschneidungen führen.

Am besten: ein zweites Firefox-Profil oder gleich ein anderer Browser, jeweils mit einer eigenen Mailvelope-Installation und nur dem passenden privaten Schlüssel.

Wichtig beim Test: Den öffentlichen Schlüssel des jeweils anderen importieren und Fingerprints über einen zweiten Kanal vergleichen. Dann sieht man auch tatsächlich, ob Versand, Entschlüsselung und Signaturprüfung korrekt funktionieren.

Ich hab gestern mal #Mailvelope Firefox Erweiterung zum ver/entschlüsseln von Mails probiert, Ja es verschlüsselt/entschlüsselt #Nextcloud Mails. Allerdings hab ich gedacht , dass es mit dem öffentlichen Schlüssel verschlüsselt … 🤔 stimmt was nix
