O isaCloud tem chegado em lugares e pessoas que eu não imaginava. Eu acredito MUITO nesse trabalho meio solitário (@dausacker é talvez o único nessa jornada também), mas com afinco, que venho fazendo pra levar o #xmpp pro conhecimento de mais pessoas.

Uma reação comum de quem era descrente mas resolve experimentar é "nossa, funciona muito bem mesmo!" - isso mostra que a impressão de muitas pessoas é que o XMPP é mais um "hype", quando, na verdade, está na estrada há mais de duas décadas.

Tudo que ele tem a evoluir é questão de opinião e gosto, mas é absolutamente competente naquilo que é essencial pra comunicação.

Movim can now handle video calls with a SFU!

It works with exactly the same flow as the full P2P (Muji) version: you start a call in a group chat and others can join, but with a huge bandwidth optimization behind the scenes. ✨

To switch your group chat video call to SFU, simply invite an SFU XMPP service into it. That's it!

And here's a little surprise 🎁!

The upcoming #Movim release will come with a bundled SFU #XMPP service that you can connect to any XMPP server, thanks to the widely deployed XEP-0114: Jabber Component Protocol 👀. This service wraps the #Galene project.

Today I set up a bare minimum #xmpp server for local only use (or via tailscale connection to home) with a self signed cert. The offspring wanted to message from their tablet and I wasn't signing up either of us for hosted services. Barebones was easy enough. Now I'm thinking of exploring how to properly setting it up to work online but with no federation. #selfhosted #selfhosting

[SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] in Gajim Flatpak on Ubuntu when using local CAs (like mkcert)?

The sandbox can't see your host CA. Fix it by mapping the host certificate bundle into the container:

flatpak override --user --filesystem=host-etc:ro --env=SSL_CERT_FILE=/run/host/etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt org.gajim.Gajim

Restart Gajim to apply!

If you're running XMPP on a private LAN, use the DNS-01 challenge to keep your ports closed and secure.

* Consolidate subdomains into one SAN certificate:
sudo certbot certonly --manual --preferred-challenges dns -d example.com -d sub.example.com -d muc.example.com

* Create a deploy hook at /etc/letsencrypt/renewal-hooks/deploy/prosody.sh:

Não achei a thread aqui, mas @beabea , o @movim  realmente tá funcionando com chamada em grupo e compartilhamento de tela, além dos spaces com salas de voz e canais dentro - só esse lance de spaces não funciona com isaCloud porque o servidor @prosodyim  xmpp que usamos ainda não tem o suporte necessário na versão estável, só no trunk, mas acredito que nas próximas semanas deve estar ok; se o servidor xmpp que tu usa estiver apto por estar no trunk ou usar @ejabberd devidamente configurado, dá pra usar já 💗
