I have an #XMPP tip for you: such a group should be created as a "public" group, not "private" (at the time of group creation). It avoids OMEMO errors (messages getting lost, or being rendered unreadable, should anyone leave for, say 2.5 weeks at a time). I spent a long time, getting accustomed to the XMPP ecosystem (1.5 years; ran my own server). It was an Autistic "special interest" of mine, so I know about all these ugly little details.
I've been wooed over to Deltachat instead. It has some warts of its own (as is always the case), but overall I think it's better. The group-encryption is automatic/mandatory, and more resilient to group changes/absences, as compared to XMPP's OMEMO. And the ability to add multiple "relays" is really unparalleled, to my knowledge. 🤌

@StaceyCornelius I find this deeply concerning as well. My geeky way to cope with this politics-gets-in-bed-with-evil-techbros gong show of epic proportions, was by installing a #Deltachat server.

@biikagoasku Mais la page n'est pas très actualisée car depuis sa parution, #DeltaChat a beaucoup évolué (tél, visio) et est l'une des messagerie les plus sinon la plus sécurisée, elle est complètement décentralisée.
Briar n'est plus maintenu.
