@futurebird you're right, and it's a quagmire that can never be resolved. There are the geeks like us who "get it" - it was never supposed to be HTML-ized, and can only lead to a bunch of technical problems. Then there are the marketing types who get out of bed in the morning to make their marketing campaigns "stand out" **by any means**. They would include shockwave flash if only they could get away with it. **There's no magic wand we can wave to lower their narcissistic personality trait.**

Email needs to die, since this difference in perspective is like a gulf that can never be bridged. I would prefer we all used #Deltachat.

Mal eine Frage an die #deltachat Nutzer - kann man die Software auch auf einen "normalen" Email Account nutzen und auch mit anderen die DeltaChat nicht einsetzen.

So ganz hab ich das noch nicht verstanden.

Interesting, just found that #TorBox has been discontinued Sept 1 just as I'm trying to research for a friend some strategies on getting communications through to family in Iran.
Trying to look into #DeltaChat #SessionChat as their current solutions of #Telegram and #WhatsApp have obv issues. The main advantage of the last two are their ubiquity, relative ease-of-use and that they aren't currently blocked for the person's contacts so far.

#deltachat is now evolving for 9 years. Among the currently active 15-20 contributors a majority joined 5+ years ago, with some joining in the very first year and a few only joining last year.

Patience and perseverance is underrated when it comes to producing something that challenges the status quo of centralized mainstream messaging. Several competitors dropped out by now while many of us feel we are only getting started.

Rappel : Si vous avez besoin de partager votre position en temps réel avec quelqu'un, #DeltaChat c'est une excellente solution.
Non seulement ça marche bien, mais c'est chiffré de bout en bout.

Vous pouvez même faire des groupes et partager à volonté votre position sur la durée de votre choix avec le groupe. Ça permet d'avoir tout le monde sur la carte.

Ich versuche SEIT JAHREN mein Umfeld von WhatsApp wegzubekommen, mit sehr überschaubarem Erfolg. 😫
Meiner Meinung nach ist Threema aus verschiedenen Gründen die beste Alternative (ich würde mich auch noch auf Signal einlassen), aber die Leute sind entweder zu geizig, zu faul oder völlig gleichgültig was das Thema angeht.

Umstellungs-Statusmeldung in WhatsApp geschaltet das ich am Monatsende weg bin aus WhatsApp, wer weiterhin per Messenger in Kontakt bleiben möchte kann sich bis dahin melden und ich lade ihn ein in einen der anderen Messenger. 2 Leute sind bereits mot gewechselt, mal sehen ob und wenn wieviel von den anderen noch kommt oder ob es ruhig wird 🤣.

Looking at encrypted messengers and the recent failure of the AWS, using @delta is better than nothing. Remember, though, that they support neither #PerfectForwardSecrecy nor quantum-safe or even -resistant #Encryption. High-risk targets should still use only @signalapp, because #DeltaChat and even @threemaapp, @matrix, and #XMPP do not have #PostQuantumEncryption (or proper implementations of it).

What was your point where you said "wow, I can now actually use it (since my favourite feature was finally implement)"?

I estimate for most people it was the introduction of #chatmail (instant profile creation) and reliable #push_notifications
