Google quiere adquirir los datos internos de Spirit Airlines por 10 millones de dólares para entrenar sus modelos de IA.
El acuerdo supuestamente incluye 100 millones de correos electrónicos, 500 millones de mensajes de Microsoft Teams y registros de empleados que contienen información de nóminas e impuestos.

A prominent German politician like Norbert Röttgen can have 150,000 followers and international visibility, yet feel unable to move because his audience is locked into infrastructure controlled by someone else.
That *is* power.
And every politician, journalist and institution that concludes "I cannot leave because my audience is there" reinforces it.
Tonight, Röttgen argued that Europe needs to regain power in an ever-changing international order. Technological dependence is part of the same power dynamic.
Perhaps our representatives can discuss power without fully recognizing how much power lies in controlling information and the infrastructure through which it flows.
Our political communication remains heavily dependent on platforms controlled by tech oligarchs, who have the power to influence and potentially undermine our democracies.

Digital sovereignty is more than just avoiding US big tech. I hope the lesson we all learn is that we shouldn't allow ourselves to get locked into a platform. We as users, organizations and countries should highly value data portability and interoperability.
Don't just move to smaller European specific cloud services. Don't just move to small tech companies because they're the little guy. All these little guys want to be big guys. That's just how capitalism works.
So #MistralAI released something new, which will probably go rounds in both #AI and #EU #digitalSovereignty circles soon.
Just to state the obvious again:
- Environmental disaster (ML2 produced >20k t CO²e, ML4 is 9x bigger. Requires enormous GPU power)
- Legal disaster (the usual training sets)
- NOT OSS (just Open-Weight)
- Social disaster (it's AI)
- Probably more disaster
