Can confirm what Alison says - there is stuff happening at grassroots that eclipses what, say, the commission does in many ways.
At the same time, this requires brave people who care. And to make the rest move - hard rules will be needed. Hopefully the EU will thus continue on its slow and steady path to get some decent regulations around #DigitalSovereignty in place!

This is a supply chain story dressed as a CVE. The ecosystem was built too fast. Security assumed it would catch up. It hasn't.
Digital sovereignty without perimeter defence is just security theatre. If you're running MCP servers and you skip the proxy because 'it adds complexity,' you've already lost.

On Tuesday Jolla had the privilege of attending Sitra’s networking event focused on digital sovereignty. 🇫🇮🇪🇺
We were excited to join the discussion, present our Sailfish OS mobile operating system, and showcase the Jolla Phone to legislators and policymakers from Finland and the EU as part of the broader conversation on Europe’s digital future and technological independence.
We also had the opportunity to discuss Jolla’s mission, products, and vision with Finnish MEP Aura Salla.
A big thank you to the event organizers and everyone who stopped by our stand, it was great to connect and exchange ideas around digital sovereignty.

Meine #Hochschule #Bielefeld @hochschulebielefeld #HSBI beginnt heute damit, Email-Konten aller Studierenden und Mitarbeiter*innen in die #Exchange-Online Cloud von #Microsoft zu kopieren. Es wurde am 12. Mai 2026 per Rundmail angekündigt. Das heißt, auch Emails aus meinem Postfach werden nun in eine Microsoft Cloud transferiert, obwohl ich das nicht möchte.
Auf meine Protest-Mails und Frage nach OPT OUT, an den IT-Helpdesk, an die DV Zentrale, an die Kontaktadresse des/der Datenschutzbeauftragten, und weil es die aktuell nicht gibt, wie von Autoreply gefordert, direkt an das Präsidium der Hochschule (Präsidentin, Vizepräsidentin und Verantwortliche für Internationales) GAB ES BIS HEUTE KEINE ANTWORT.
Ich habe eben mit jemand im Helpdesk telefoniert, der das unbearbeitete Ticket nun an Vorgesetzte schicken will.
In der Webseite zur Migration steht, man könnte ja seine Mails löschen und gelöschte Mailkonten würden ebenfalls nicht in die Cloud übertragen. Spannender #Datenschutz-Ansatz... Ich bin Student im Master-Abschlusssemester und auf funktionierende Kommunikation mit Hochschulinstanzen für meinen Abschluss angewiesen. Andererseits: Email scheint da ja eh nicht zu funktionieren.
