Fun times. Raivo, the some-time-in-the-past-open-source 2FA app I switched to on my iPhone a few years ago while degooglizing my life got quietly sold to a shady company by the original developer Tijme Gommers, and an update they pushed few days ago wiped all my passwords from my device, with no apparent option to recover.

So pissed. Was using #Raivo for 2FA and OTTP and after updating the app, ALL my logins were moved behind a “master password” that I never set and I don’t even know which accounts they were. The devs apparently realized how much they fucked up and are maybe(?) trying to come up with a solution but you better believe I’ve switched apps and reset as many 2FAs as I could.

Cool, all my #2FA tokens are gone*. Because an #OpenSource project got bought by a shady company, which now, after almost a year of owning it, broke the app with their first(!!) update to it!
Oh and of course they want money in form of a subscription now. Can't make this shit up.
In short: DON'T USE #Raivo!
Update: They now completely disabled the issue tracker on GitHub. 😅
*Thanks for worrying, most of them are not lost forever, but only because I have an export that's only two weeks old.

PSA: If you're still using #Raivo 2FA on iOS back up your data immediately and do not update to the latest version.
As we suspected would happen when they were acquired last year, the new owners of the app have pivoted to a forced subscription model and updating to the new version will delete all your TOTP codes! https://discuss.privacyguides.net/t/psa-export-your-keys-before-updating-raivo-otp-to-the-latest-1-6-version/18602
We recommend switching to Ente Auth, which can be used completely locally or with @ente's end-to-end encrypted cloud backups.

Hey iOS :apple_inc: users, what 2fa app are you using?
I'm going to migrate from Raivo to another, actively-maintained open-sourced app which is not a product.
I was using Raivo OTP, but it got purchased by a company, and development has been frozen.
There are some open-sourced apps such as Ente or 2fas, but I was wondering what are you guys using and why.
I have personal backups so lack of import is not a problem for me.

#Raivo #OTP has been #acquired by #Mobime. Here goes another great OTP app :( I'm glad I've switched to #1password, it's not #OpenSource but at least it has better integration (no need to rely on another device to get my tokens)
