I just found out for myself that I truly and utterly HATE #discord A LOT! What a fucking bad user interface. What a bad GUI that forces you to glue your eyes down at the bottom of the screen when writing something in a single row. I don't get it how to add channels or what they may call that shit. They are constantly bragging about things they want to sell me. Discord is owned by #sony. SONY!!! #gamers really don't care about stuff, do they ..?!

Any attempt to do otherwise will lead to a lot of false positives and negatives.

With the news on the UK's "Phase 2" of the Online Safety Act rolling out, my focus has shifted heavily. Today's tasks are all about digital resilience and decentralization:
👉 Boosting Alternative Networks: I have to push Solent.Social and the broader Fediverse much harder.
👉 Learn New Systems: Exploring alternative platforms, as the upcoming round of strict ID verification rules will likely lock out or restrict access to mainstream spaces like TikTok and YouTube (So maybe looking at PeerTube and Loops).
👉 Content Redundancy: Pushing further into content creation while simultaneously building digital backups on alternative, self-hosted or federated systems like PeerTube or just uploading it directly to Solent.Social
👉 Alternative Comms: Researching Discord alternatives (hoping Fluxer has finally got its decentralized architecture live).
There is an immense amount of work to do before these highly invasive "safety" systems are fully implemented.
At this stage, bringing friends and family over to safer, independent digital spaces isn't just a preference, It’s a necessity! No one should be subject to this level of blanket surveillance. It treats people as criminals right out the gate and company greed causes them to harvest our personal data even further to train AI Models to replace us. This is all getting ridiculous.

After 15 years of work on #Movim , countless commits, improvements, and refactoring, I am incredibly proud to offer everyone a fully standard, lightweight, and open-source alternative to major platforms like #Discord, Microsoft Teams, and Slack.
There are a few minor things left to standardize, but you can already build another client that fully integrates with Movim.

Today I installed #Keycloak, am "kicking the tires" (no Docker).
My first impressions: The default db backend is #postgresql, which is cool 👍 . keycloak itself is #java-based (so connects to postgresql through jdbc. Passable). Not the sexiest language, but I forgive them, because it's a 12-year old project. It uses 600MB of RAM, with just me logged in as a web admin user. Passable. Unicode is enforced within any given database. Also cool. It passed a "fuzzing audit" in 2024, and there have been a ton of security updates recently (ver 26.6.2), what with all the AI-assisted penetration testing these days. That's also a bit like an audit. I'm happy about that. The forums are pretty slow on #Github and #Discourse (I wish there was more activity there). I'm grateful they have no #Discord "server" - which would have been a red flag to me. But surprisingly, the development activity is quite rapid these days! Tons of monthly commits. That's good.

Użytkownicy komputerów z procesorami Snapdragon X mogą już pobrać natywną wersję komunikatora Discord.
Aplikacja została napisana specjalnie pod architekturę ARM, co eliminuje konieczność uruchamiania jej przez warstwę emulacji. Zmiana ta bezpośrednio przekłada się na płynność działania programu i mniejsze zużycie baterii w nowych laptopach.
Cichy debiut wyczekiwanej wersji
Jak zauważyli redaktorzy serwisu Neowin, twórcy Discorda nie zorganizowali oficjalnej premiery i nie wydali żadnego komunikatu prasowego. Instalator w wersji ARM po prostu pojawił się do pobrania na stronie producenta.
Do tej pory posiadacze komputerów z systemem Windows on ARM, chcąc korzystać z Discorda, mieli do wyboru dwa wyjścia:
- uruchomienie usługi w karcie przeglądarki internetowej,
- instalację standardowej aplikacji (x86), która działała za pośrednictwem wbudowanego w system emulatora Microsoft Prism.
Choć mechanizmy emulacji w Windows 11 radzą sobie coraz lepiej, uruchamianie w ten sposób oprogramowania zawsze wiąże się z narzutem obliczeniowym.

Wielu użytkowników zastanawia się, dlaczego rewolucja kryptograficzna ominęła tradycyjne wiadomości tekstowe. Władze platformy wyjaśniają to ogromnym długiem technologicznym. Aby zapewnić spójne bezpieczeństwo bez generowania opóźnień w przesyłaniu dźwięku i obrazu, Discord we współpracy z uznaną firmą audytorską Trail of Bits opracował protokół DAVE (Discord Audio & Video End-to-End Encryption). Wykorzystuje on nowoczesny standard Messaging Layer Security (MLS) do bezpiecznej i skalowalnej wymiany kluczy kryptograficznych w rozmowach wieloosobowych.
Nowe zabezpieczenie działa automatycznie i nie wymaga od użytkowników aktywacji jakichkolwiek opcji w ustawieniach. Szyfrowaniem objęto:
- Prywatne rozmowy głosowe i wideo (DMs).
- Konwersacje w grupach prywatnych (Group DMs).
- Standardowe kanały głosowe na serwerach.
- Transmisje strumieniowe z gier (Go Live).
Jedynym wyjątkiem pozostają kanały typu Stage, które ze względu na swoją architekturę służą do publicznych transmisji i masowych paneli dyskusyjnych, a nie prywatnej wymiany informacji.
Dlaczego czaty tekstowe pozostają jawne?
Wielu użytkowników zastanawia się, dlaczego rewolucja kryptograficzna ominęła tradycyjne wiadomości tekstowe. Władze platformy wyjaśniają to ogromnym długiem technologicznym. Większość kluczowych funkcji Discorda – takich jak zaawansowana moderacja treści przez boty, przeszukiwanie historii wiadomości, indeksowanie linków czy podgląd multimediów – została od podstaw zaprojektowana przy założeniu, że serwery mają bezpośredni wgląd w tekst. Przebudowanie tych struktur pod kątem pełnego szyfrowania end-to-end wymagałoby napisania architektury czatów całkowicie od nowa. Na ten moment firma nie planuje takiego kroku.
