AFAIK, at the moment, everyone needs to be in the room (MUC), i.e. they need an account.
I can imagine, that at some point, anonymous users ( #XEP-0175?) could be added. That would make #Movim an alternative to #JitsiMeet or #BigBlueButton, only better (ha!), because integrated into #Jabber #XMPP.

This was the last milestone of a two-year project funded by @nlnet. A big thanks to them for making it happen 🫶
It's highly possible that some minor bugfix versions will follow, as this introduces a lot of new things that might need to be polished and optimized 👀

📢 The Wide Video Conferences branch has now been merged into master and deployed on https://mov.im/ !
The Movim SFU service can now automatically retrieve STUN/TURN configuration from your XMPP server via XEP-0215: External Service Discovery, and pass it along to Galene.
Documentation is the last piece left before we can release everything ✨
I can't wait to finally ship this, it marks the final step of a 2.5-year journey to bring a fully modern, scalable video-conferencing stack to #XMPP. 😸

We're approaching the final steps of the Wide Conferences (SFU) feature with the introduction of screen-sharing!
This already worked with the Muji system (P2P), but now you'll be able to stream your screen and webcam directly to the SFU service, which will take care of broadcasting it to everyone in the room... allowing things to scale to many more viewers ✨
There are still a few things to review and fix, but we're almost there 👀
