Announcement: #Voxelibre multiplayer casual game today (Sat) for 4 hours in the late afternoon to evening (North America). That's in about 5 hours from now.

Creating minecart tracks (and of course minecart rides) will be a focus today, better linking up developed regions of the map.

Voxelibre is a free and #OpenSource crafting and mining voxel game, available in the #luanti game engine. :blob_cat_heart:

Some of the latest smaller #Repixture features I added:

▶️ Glass slab and stair added
▶️ Creative inventory search improved, now recognizes keywords like "wood"

▶️ Dirt/sand can now be fertilized from all sides, and fertilizer appears on all sides

And that's not all! I have written a custom Lua map generator for #Luanti which allows you to explore these fractals in real time. You can find this at https://codeberg.org/caten/rpsland and hopefully on the Luanti ContentDB soon.

This mod works with #Mineclonia and Minetest Game and uses the shape of a given 3D algebra's analogue of the Mandelbrot set in order to draw terrain. Fractal noise is used to introduce some more variety and several options are available to tweak and twist these fractals to your liking. I've already spent a ton of time hanging out, exploring, and just generally enjoying these worlds. I hope you have as much fun trying this thing out as I had making it.

The settings menu was updated a couple of months ago, you dont have to quit a world to get to the advanced settings anymore and its more navigable.

The whole game still doesn't look pretty but I've learned with FLOSS games to ignore the looks and focus on evaluating gameplay. At least in mineclonia the default texture pack is nice

(Seems like they are struggling to find a new workaround for YouTube blockages. Would be sad to lose one of the most feature-rich YouTube clients, but at least it can still be used as a "sub manager" or search engine, links can be copied to yt-dlp, inv.nadeko.net, an external video player, etc. (although inv.nadeko.net also breaks sometimes, or is extremely slow))

Сейчас понимаю, что Luanti, Hedgewars и другие игры с Lua-скриптингом кладут свои яйца в LuaJIT, который в свою очередь является слешем Lua 5.1 (PUC) и бэкпортом отдельных фич из Lua 5.2+5.3. :blobcatgooglyholdingitsheadinitshands:

И всё от того, что LuaJIT создавался для ускорения Lua 5.1 через динамическую компиляцию, как потом появился оригинальный Lua 5.2, который поломал много кода. То же самое получилось и с синтаксическими плюшками в 5.3. Теперь люди просто не хотят соскакивать на 5.4, ибо JIT-компиляция нужна и есть опаска, что Lua в очередной раз сломает вещи. :blobcatgooglywhaat:
