  7. Some historical documents from 2009 for #TextureTuesday... A high-res render and some detail crops of the award-winning generative typography & branding system/application I designed & developed for the DECODE exhibition at Victoria & Albert Museum London (one of the largest group shows the V&A had organized and curated in a few decades, and which later traveled to other museums worldwide)...

    The entire identity system & application was/is open source (a world's first back then) and was created with my toxiclibs toolkit (3D geometry, meshing, voxel-based volumetric modeling, animation) and Processing (GUI). Rendering using Christopher Kulla's Sunflow.

  8. We just released Avoyd Beta 0.28.0.1036

    We've added multi-model export to .vox file format. This was a complex task as Avoyd offers a number of features which the .vox format or MagicaVoxel (MV) do not support; namely large scenes, large models, 64k materials, free transforms, pivot points and model instances being able to be nodes in the scene graph (the .vox format only allows groups to have children).

  14. I finished the main story line of Arranger: A role-puzzling adventure last night and really want to dig into Hytale after I get out for a walk. I've seen some gameplay of Hytale so I know what to expect, and I really like the direction they're going in.

    Arranger was a lot of fun and the puzzles were extremely well designed, and unique in a good way. I would recommend playing it if the gameplay looks interesting. You have no health or inventory, just a character and items you move around in the world, solving puzzles in the environment.

  19. Built a 6-axis robot in Avoyd (beta). It's loosely based on a Stäubli.

    All axes are defined by their individual pivots so you can rotate the parts to set the robot's limbs in various positions. This is to test Avoyd's hierarchy of models with a cascade of rotations off the voxel grid.

  21. Does anyone know of a tool to edit a #HeightMap?

    I've taken a look at #Avoyd (from @juulcat and @dougbinks). Looks like a great tool, strong point is it's a #voxel editor, so not limited to heightmap, and can render huge terrains, but maybe not very practical for sculpting/painting height on terrain (or maybe I don't know how to use it correctly ?)

    Other than that, there are generic image editors of course (such as Gimp). But not very practical either.
