Anyone for the outdatedness of Slackware?
My Slackware Tilers setup runs Sway, with the nwg-shell. And Mangowc with Noctalia. And Niri with Dank. Hyprland is available, but not installed. And Slackware Current. All from one iso and repository by @jloc0 . Smart thing: package sets are linked by symbolic links. Type "slackpkg install dank" and you'll see all related packages before they're pulled in. Way less 'dependency hell'. And very much up to date 😄 Thanks Jay!

Unstable Stream Updates: 26th Feb 2026

A sizeable update this week with updates across the board. Notable updates include:

- COSMIC DE 1.0.8
- GNOME 49.3/4 application updates
- KDE Frameworks 6.2.3
- KDE Plasma 6.6.1
- mangowc 0.12.2
- linux 6.8.13
- mesa 26.0.1

There have been a lot of package updates and new packages added this cycle all helping flesh AerynOS out into something more usable for our current testers.

Long time friend of the project, Fabio has rejoined the fold and has hit the ground running with a number of fixes and code refactors to moss and boulder with more in the pipeline.

Seit längerem auf meinem Arbeitsrechner von #mangowc auf #niri umgestellt.
scratchpad fehlt nun leider, aber dafür kann ich die unterschiedlichen SAP-Systeme (Produktiv, Test) wieder anhand der Fensterrahmenfarbe erkennen. Die Möglichkeit verschiedene Tilings, je nach Tag, einzustellen nutzte ich kaum.
Und die Übersichten sind bei niri schon Klasse, sowohl die Workspace-Übersicht als auch die Fensterübersicht!
Hier kann man sehr schön justieren, ob man nur die Fenster des Monitors, des Workspaces oder alle Fenster sehen möchte.

Told y'all before: FreeBSD has the most exciting and full-fledged stack of Wayland compositors and applications.
Most exciting part of Mangowc: switching between tiling and scrolling with one keybind. And a ton more, to be discovered by yours truly. Enjoying it a lot so far.

Wenn #niri bloß ein klein bisschen mehr wie #mangowc wäre. Das gefällt mir gerade etwas besser, nicht zuletzt auch wegen dem "natíven" Scratchpad.
Ein zusätzliches Tile-Layout würde mir in niri schon genügen.

Ansonsten finde ich, daß Yalter einen tollen Job macht. Die Changelogs sind der Wahnsinn! Ich kenne kein Projekt mit besseren Changelogs. Kudos!

Hat eine Weile gedauert alles einzurichten, daß es passt, aber hat sich gelohnt: auf meinem Heimrechner läuft nun #mangowc
Sehr gail! Nicht nur daß man ein "richtiges" scratchpad hat und für jeden tag ein eigenes Layout zuweisen kann, auch kommt es besser mit java Anwendungen klar. #niri hat hier Probleme:

#quickshell Umgebung #dankmaterialshell ist hier sehr dankbar. Nimmt einem viel "Gegurke" ab, da #dms sehr viele Funktionen bietet. Bei #waybar benötigt man zusätzliche Software/configs.

Das junge #windowtiling Projekt #mangowc entwickelt sich stetig. Praktisch jede Woche eine neue Version.
Beobachte es gespannt. Auf einem Rechner habe ich es installiert und teste es von Zeit zu Zeit.
Sehr spannend finde ich die Möglichkeit für jeden Workspace ein eigenes Layout zu definieren. So läßt sich ein Layout wie bei #niri definieren - oder "klassische" Layouts, die man aus wm kennt.
