@blackbrook @bjoern_tantau VLC > Tools > Customise interface lets me make it look like this - which is very usable. Using the flatpak version on #Librem5 running PureOS Crimson. Also tested previously on postmarketOS on another L5.

@postmarketOS @RannyBergamotte
Nice to read this: "The Librem 5 kernel was upgraded from 6.6 to 6.12 in !8959, importing fixes from upstream so that freezes on wakeup from suspend (#4207) no longer happen. Thanks Daniel K., dos and people who tested and helped finishing this up!"
I'm going to give postmarketOS a try on one of my Librem 5's!

As far as I know no ETA can be given for Dawn at the moment. Work towards Dawn is in progress for sure though.You can read the monthly #PureOS updates here: https://puri.sm/posts/tag/advanced-readers/

@defensivecomputing And for Linux phone users on #phosh: Mobile Settings > Lockscreen > Emergency Info (although not exactly the same thing as you have to swipe left to reveal)

@drsJekyll @pimjoosten @jrf_nl @zandbelt @teacher_rick @Piloot @barbarakathmann

@FediFollows Please also add @furilabs it's the most usable option for nontechy people right now.
@mechasystems also has the Comet which would be a #Linuxphone with their LTE module.
@dawndrums and @Liberux are also upcoming projects great to follow - the former has already showcased a working early prototype on their YT channel.
And also @purism who have 2 phones and initially put in so much work in developing phosh, chatty (GNOME Chats) and the phone Calls app as well as underlying stuff to make desktop apps responsive. I'm daily driving a #Librem5 btw and quite comfortably too coming from a #degoogled Android ecosystem.

Personally, I do not use any Android apps on the #Librem5. However, you could run certain Android apps with #Waydroid, which is available in the #PureOS repository:
https://docs.puri.sm/Software/PureOS/cfg/android/waydroid.html
For calls and messages the Librem 5 is reliable for me, and they wake the phone up, also from suspend.

I use the #Librem5 as my daily phone. I use the 3.5 mm jack nearly daily to listen to podcasts and internet radio.
I really like that the Librem 5 is a full Linux handheld device where I can use all Linux commands, and have full freedom.
No AI by default on the Librem 5, no ads, focus on #privacy and #security. It also has three hardware kill switches to disable mic, camera, wifi and bluetooth, and mobile data.

@Blort Projects that appear to be currently focused on mainline Linux phone I know of - with their donation links:
@ev:
https://ev.phosh.mobi/donate/@postmarketOS:
https://opencollective.com/postmarketOS@purism:

https://shop.puri.sm/shop/donate/@mobian:
https://liberapay.com/mobian/donate@dawndrums:
https://github.com/sponsors/dawndrumsI'm not sure if you can donate to GNOME and KDE's mobile efforts specifically. Similarly, there doesn't appear to be a way to donate towards the #Librephone project specifically instead of the whole @fsf in general.
I love the @mechasystems project but not sure if that tiny-screen device can ever be a smartphone replacement unless they offer a taller screen variant...

@thelinuxEXP I prefer watching on #peertube. Here is a link: https://tilvids.com/w/jGs6g7uphg25pUXEBX3kLF
I'm a #Librem5 user, that runs #PureOS with @phosh (an older version). Thanks for this video about #UbuntuTouch, which I never tried myself, so the video is very informative for me.

I use vim all the time when I have to do a small change in a file on my #Librem5.
For me it works easier than a gui editor.

@shortwavesurfer @sbeak It looks like the following devices can work out for you and all ship to the US afaik:
1. #FLX1s from @furilabs
2. #LibertyPhone from @purism or the lower-spec #Librem5 if you don't need Waydroid
3. #MechaComet from @mechasystems who tested two LTE modems with it recently.I daily drive a Librem 5 with #PureOS and #postmarketOS so feel free to ask about the experience.

@Sh4d0w_H34rt @thelinuxEXP I'm on a #Librem5 and have several bank accounts in a few countries. All of their web apps work in Firefox without requiring an Android app.
Two of them did claim to require a duopoly app so I walked in to a branch, said I have a #Linuxphone and will need to take my money elsewhere if they dont allow me to login using Firefox on my Linux phone or Linux PC. One of them simply clicked something on their workstation and said 'Oh sure you can log in on the browser now,' and the other bank sent me a physical token.
