The #Fairphone5 saga continues...
Ordering from the Fairphone store is atrocious. 1st the whole of August you were not able to see your "Keep-club" points and now the Battery is out of stock. However, it does not say so when you already have it on your cart. It will only prompt you an error message during payment for a split second and then forwards you to a general error page. I more and more get the feeling #Fairphone are just drop shippers, based on the customer experience they provide -
I use @murena @e_mydata #/e/OS on my #Fairphone 6. I'm generally happy, but curious about alternatives, and whether I'd be more happy with something else. I don't use any of Murena's services. I see @calyxos now supports #Fairphone 6. Has anyone tried both /e/OS and #CalyxOS on the FP6? How do they compare? Should I switch? Anything I should be aware of before I do? Particularly interested in experiences with Norwegian "must have" apps (bankID, Ruter, div. bankapper).

I've been using the Fairphone 4 for the past month, since my old phone started expanding. (You don't want your phone to expand! 😱)
It's running /e/OS (a deGoogled Android fork built on LineageOS), since Murena's the Fairphone's only US reseller. I like the repairability, but it's a bit clunky (not to mention an older model). Fortunately my bank apps work with microG, and once I signed into Google (I know, I know) I can use apps I've paid for. But it doesn't handle system-level in-app purchases (yet?).
I've written up a pair of reviews with more details, one of the hardware and another focusing on the /e/OS software.

My #Pixel 6 Pro will stop receiving updates in Oct so I'm in the market for a non-Google #Android phone. Was hoping to buy the Pixel 11 to install GrapheneOS on it but those folks now recommend against buying this phone (see quoted thread). And #Fairphone isn't officially available in Australia.
I can't wait till the GrapheneOS-powered #Motorola comes out in 2027 so I'll probably get the Pixel 9/10 and install #GrapheneOS, #CalyxOS, or #LineageOS on it.
Anyone have other options to consider?

Came in July 2022 from a Nokia C2-05 (loved it!) with a critical stance on smartphone data privacy, direct to #Fairphone4 with #murena /e/OS.
It was the #Fairphone and the #privacy that I searched for on the internet.
I'm happy with it, everything I need works on it.

I am getting really unhappy with how @e_mydata seems to evolve. It starts to push more @murena services unto it's users.
I have no need for Murena Password. Sorry, but I trust Bitwarden and Proton Pass way more. But I'm being forced to see dark patterns trying to tempt users to enable. I kinda accepted that a little bit, since it's their OS platform.
But now I discovered that SeedVault is gone and replaced with Murena Backup. I had a perfectly fine SeedVault setup which synced backup data in the background to my own backup server (which again is backed up, encrypted, to a server on a different location). Now I seem to need to sign up for a Murena Workspace account. With backup encryption keys tied to Murena Password. That's crossing a line I'm not going to accept.
That means I will need to cash out more to have a backup of my /e/OS devices. For something I already had setup and protects my data and privacy even further than what I believe Murena is willing to do. Yes, there is a free tier Workspace. It's limited to 1GB data, to my understanding. And I doubt their setup, software stack and client side apps has been through a full third-party security audit.
Either I have control of my backup data, or you can try to convince me using a data storage service after showing me your third-party, independent security audit report.
That just.means: NO, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
I have bought several phones, tablet and accessories from Murena over the years. That stops now. I can no longer recommend Murena to others, as they now seem to move towards a full vendor lock-in corporate model. That is unacceptable to.me.
It's been nice to be able to buy #Fairphone with pre-installed /e/OS. But now I'm going to test out @calyxos moving forward. Despite the firmware flashing inconvenience.

if this device was made from premium materials like titanium, alumninium and/or glass, I would certainly consider it with a custom rom - I couldn't care less about the carbon footprint for a device I use frequently every day. It just needs to be, feel and look premium. It's too bad that eco-friendly can also be overdone.
