Ancient history: I fell in love🥰 with the Apple IIe waaaay back in the early 80’s. Even tho it was monochrome (green on black) it was Superior to my Commodore at home 🏡 in almost all aspects. Thru the years I have happily & successfully supported whatever cheap HW & crap💩ware that other vendors produced, i.e. Atari, IBM, M$, Intel, Google, Alphabet … ¡no mas!

I stopped using Google services a while ago.

I’ve written in the past about my #GoodbyeGoogle story. All part of me trying to leaving Big Tech behind.

I’m getting there.

I have a domain through which I run my own instance of Nextcloud, to replace Google Drive.

The other domain I set up to use for email and other services (albeit it’s via Apple).

In fact, apart from YouTube, my Google account is unused for anything else.

So, why have I received an email from Google advising me to verify my own domain as my recovery email?
How is Google even aware of this?

Rhetorical question, I suppose!

Here is my current tech stack:

* Storage - #Nextcloud
* Photos - Apple Photos
* Email - My own domain (currently via Apple Mail)
* Maps - Apple Maps
* Browser - #Vivaldi (MacBook) #quichebrowser (iPhone and iPad)

🚪👋 Ian Lance Taylor says goodbye to Google after only 19 years and a side project called Go that no one's ever heard of 🤔. Apparently, he's been blessed to work with some obscure names like Rob Pike and Ken Thompson 🙄. Who knew Go would become “just another programming language”? 🎉

Goodbye Google Docs, I'm sold to Skiff. Even if it's still in beta, for my personal needs is more than enough.

And depending on the price, probably it will be a good option for our studio too.
