  1. I recently got an #AppleWatch to help improve my sleep quality. I've also been wearing it on daily walks, and when meeting people.

But with the news that Apple Watch is becoming a creeper device, I don't want to appear to endorse that, nor be insensitive, by wearing it around others.

So the Apple Watch is staying at home now

And I'm feeling more urge to move from #iPhone, to a more privacy-respecting device. Probably back to #GrapheneOS. But viable #PostmarketOS with #Phosh would be nice.

  2. GrapheneOS is slop, blah blah blah... i know, i'd like to do something about it

codeberg.org/posthardenedOS specifically this, it's supposed to be postmarketOS (duranium) but hardened

the issue is that the project has barely started and i dropped it for now

i'm mediocre at cybersec at best and would need some help with the project (i.e. port linux-hardened, make SELinux policies, sandboxing, systems hardenings, etc.) just to keep the project rolling as i feel i'm not enough to get this job done properly

    anybody interested? pls contact

    #postmarketos #posthardenedos #grapheneos #mobilelinux #slop

  3. I'm thinking about offering some informal mentoring to someone who wants to get into #postmarketOS development (packaging, #duranium) or other projects I'm heavily involved with. I've been contributing to pmOS for a while, and I'm happy to help someone get unstuck. In return I'd ask for patience (I make mistakes and I don't have infinite time), and some self-motivation and comfort with Linux, the command line, and git. Would anyone be interested in this?

  4. Hello I'm calling you from Linux 7.1.0-rc1-sdm845 and all I had to do was putting a SIM card into the sim slot.

    #postmarketOS is just insane nowadays

  5. Had a dream last night that I accidentally stuck a USB drive with a postmarketOS Duranium experimental ISO into my laptop and it did part of the install before I realized what was happening.

  16. EU needs to make a stand on Play Integrity. If app devs enforce Play Integrity, this means only Google Certified devices can use banking, etc. This excludes all alternative mobile OS. No #postmarketOS, no #SailfishOS, no Android derivatives #GrapheneOS etc. You don't need Play Integrity. If someone is capable to install or use alternative OS, they sure know what to install or not install, it is on their responsibility. Using non-root but bootloader unlocked device (otherwise can't use alternative OS) does not make my device less secure. On the contrary, it is using an up to date OS with the latest security patches. Do we really want all mobile devices have to be Google Certified? No. #mobile #integrity #bootloader #unlocked #nonsense #Europe

  30. Lilbits: Raspberry Pi hikes prices due to rising RAM costs, Netflix ends (most) Google Cast support, and MyArcade launches two Sonic the Hedgehog-themed game systems

With tech companies investing heavily in building out the infrastructure for AI systems that you may or may not have asked for, prices for certain PC components have shot through the roof as manufacturers struggle to keep up with demand. GPUs were the first casualty, and now RAM and SSDs are seeing major price hikes as well.

While that’s most likely to take a toll on your wallet if you’re […]

  31. Lilbits: Updates on Pebble, Rebble, and Aluminium (Android + ChromeOS for PCs)

Google’s upcoming PC operating system that merges elements of Android and ChromeOS has a new name… or at least a code name. And there are updates on both sides of the dispute between Core Devices (the company brining Pebble watches back from the dead) and Rebble (the developers who made sure that old Pebble watches were only mostly dead).

Last week the Rebble team made accusations that […]

  32. Lilbits: iPad-style multitasking on iPhones, and maybe Lenovo didn’t leak any Android PC plans after all

Last week news started to make the rounds that Lenovo has published a web page spelling out the pros (and many cons) of PCs running Android. But Lenovo has since removed that website and claimed that it had nothing to do with Google’s plans to bring Android to PCs in the future… although it’s unclear why Lenovo published that page in the first place.

  34. Dear Fediverse,

Do you have a podcast you would be happy having archived?

I've been working on a mad project combining #cyberdecks #homelab mini racks and #recycling old tech. I'm in the process of writing it all up so hopefully will publish soon.
It means I've got a portable low power pseudo-server cluster which would work well as an archive - I recently read that podcasts are at risk of disappearing and while #internetarchive does a wonderful job I thought it would be fun to have another archive.

Let me know if you are interested! I only want to host podcasts if given permission
