  2. : : converting expressatt to a generic device

i'm liking the idea of a generic device encapsulating all devices in an arch. there are now generic pkgs for x86_64 and ppc64le with aarch64 in the pipeline

decided to open a pr (but more like an rfc) for how to do the same for armv7

    gitlab.postmarketos.org/postma

    input welcome!

side note: there's also an idea to make an arch-agnostic generic device pkg. i think this is a great idea too

(I upgraded a few days ago (I have the Phosh edition), and for some reason, the welcome app appears for a few seconds, then a lock screen with the default wallpaper instead of the one I set, then when I unlock the phone, it looks like as if it crashes, the GUI disappears for a few seconds, then it comes back, unlocked successfully. It only does this after boot, if I lock the screen back, everything is normal, no crash, and the wallpaper is what I set. Not the end of the world for me, but it's a bit weird, might annoy some.)

  6. EU needs to make a stand on Play Integrity. If app devs enforce Play Integrity, this means only Google Certified devices can use banking, etc. This excludes all alternative mobile OS. No #postmarketOS, no #SailfishOS, no Android derivatives #GrapheneOS etc. You don't need Play Integrity. If someone is capable to install or use alternative OS, they sure know what to install or not install, it is on their responsibility. Using non-root but bootloader unlocked device (otherwise can't use alternative OS) does not make my device less secure. On the contrary, it is using an up to date OS with the latest security patches. Do we really want all mobile devices have to be Google Certified? No. #mobile #integrity #bootloader #unlocked #nonsense #Europe

  8. This took me quite a bit of time, but I managed to boot postmarketOS on a currently unsupported devboard (commonly available for €25-30 where I live).

Little bit proud, but it's not a proper port yet, I ripped the kernel and other parts of the pre-init bootchain (fip.bin, u-boot, ...) from a pre-made Debian image for that device. I have a (mostly working) APKBUILD for that device's userland though. :)

  11. This #ptyxis terminal looks pretty sweet. I installed it on my #PostmarketOS box, but it was kind of heavy for such a low-power machine. It also didn't seem to come with a fraction of the colour schemes I would want to use and I don't have time to roll them by hand.

But the #podman integration was pretty sweet!

  12. Lilbits: Phosh 0.50.0, unofficial Windows Subsystem for FreeBSD, and Google Japan’s impractical keyboards

Some folks at Google Japan have a habit of designing impractical keyboards. A few years ago we saw a single-row keyboard with every letter, number and character laid out along a 5.4 foot strip. There are also Teacup, bubble wrap, and spoon bending keyboards, among others.

Now the company has introduced its latest horribly inconvenient keyboard: the Gboard Dial Version is made of rotary dials […]
