Note that with all of this in place, camera support on a lot of other devices is in close reach. For example the #OnePlus6 and #SHIFT6mq should only need kernel patches enabling the camera sensors. The softwareISP should then - at least in theory - "just work". Well, fingers crossed :)

P.S.: the one device where this already worked is the #PinePhonePro - but until recently it broke audio. That was also fixed in the process.

been using my #pinephonepro with the #nexdock daily for all my engineering classes for about a month now, and loving it so far! some programs i was pleasantly surprised by include #logisim, #rnote, and #eclipseide. i didn't expect these programs to work well but they are actually so useful and work just as well, if not a bit slower, than on my thinkpad. up next i'll need to install #wine and #ltspice for more circuit design :)

@postmarketOS Would like to build an image of #pmOS for my #PinephonePro, but my desktop runs #KDE #Neon which doesn't seem to have pmboostrap.

Any recommendations as to how to get pmbootstrap on a #Debain / #Ubuntu derivative distro?

Alternatively, is the PinephonePro likely to move to community soon?

Wow. Stunned that my #PinePhonePro is here already! :annoyingdog: Way quicker than my OG #PinePhone arrived. Loving how silky smooth many of the animations are and how much quicker the apps load!

After initial setup, my EMMC #Manjaro install doesn't seem to work, though. Just black screen+cursor.

I've found out that I made an "huge" error in my PinePhone Pro Documentation. After wondering for a year why it was defaulting to software rendering I found out I missed that the @PINE64 #pinephonepro does not have a Mali 400 series but an Mali 800 series GPU wich means you need to use:

Has someone running #SFOS / #SailfishOS on a #PPP / #PinephonePro without issues? I've installed it on Friday and can't get mobile data working while phone calls are working great. Would be nice to know where to start troubleshooting.

i think i will get battery/charger next and then switch the pmOS kernel to use mainline Linux. if u would like a feature of the ppp to be included, please let me know and be available to test my changes

i dont have a sim card for the device as its unfortunately not my daily driver. will give u pmbootstrap commands and the kernel tree so u can build it locally to test. can also field any questions if u have any

bonus: u can get credit in the linux kernel for testing the patch too! would need name and email for that

i think ill also try to get wifi and bluetooth working too. phosh seems to recognize the modem with my patch

I actually welcome the discontinuation of #PinePhonePro, it's better if devs just focus on one affordable platform. And yeah, maybe not launching a bunch of new products when the existing ones still need more testing and/or have known defects would have helped. But I'm not buying anything new from them until I can be sure that their priorities are right. Right now I'm happier just not having any smartphone at all and will probably buy a cheap dumb soldering iron to replace/repair my #Pinecil that no longer works with USB-C.

I know it's not a great Linux phone, but I am sad to learn that the Pinephone Pro has been discontinued. It was a worth successor to the original Pinephone, but seemed to not be popular enough to gain more support. I'm still using mine with the Samsung battery pack, and can usually get through a day with it. Hopefully @pine64 comes up with a follow up phone.
