Thanks to great work from @agx , typing #chinese is possible on phosh. So on my #FuriLabs #FLX1 I can natively type Chinese. It uses #uim behind the scenes. Before this I used to type in waydroid android container using #fcitx and copy it.

@fbinin I'd say it's worth flashing it just to get a sense of how the interface itself works and to experiment before actually buying a new device. (Also, there's a chance that someone will figure out the drivers for it later and then you can use it: my camera started working a bit only a few months after I'd set up #Mobian on my #PocoF1)

Long term, a secondhand Poco F1 would be good for a cheap option but if you're serious about it I'd recommend investing in the #FLX1 by @furilabs

I wanted to connect a keyboard to my FLX1s Linux phone.

I first tried connecting a USB keyboard to it — but, I couldn't get it to work.

Others on the Furilabs Matrix / Telegram room suggested using a Bluetooth keyboard.

So, I purchased an inexpensive (CAD $13) Bluetooth key, and — it worked! 🙂

1. Getting a device that simply does not have #Whatsapp / proprietary messaging apps, i.e.: #Linuxmobile: #Flx1, #LibertyPhone, #Librem5, #Jolla2c, etc. People typically won't care enough about #privacy but they will understand if WA simply does not work on your phone.

2. Kids: They don't have phone numbers (or phones in many cases) but want to be included in family group chats. Once kids got in on it, #DeltaChat spread like wildfire among our extended family, relatives, inlaws and friends. Even a kid with #downsyndrome onboarded their grandpa in seconds while I had earlier struggled to get him on #Signal!

A great thing about Delta Chat is that, unlike #ElementMessenger and other fully-featured #Matrix clients, there's no search and discovery feature so kids do not stumble upon untrusted groups and strangers' profiles.

You place an order for a Furilabs #FLX1. Roll a D20:

• 1-6: The Deutsche Bank PhotoTAN app doesn't work, rendering the phone useless. You throw it in the bucket of shame with the other Linux phones.
• 7-14: Several important apps don't work and you have to find terrible workarounds. Many things suck. You struggle on out of bloody-mindedness. At least you have a decent terminal.
• 15-19: It is actually an adequate replacement for your iPhone.
• 20: It is actually an adequate replacement for your Nokia #N900.

Was excited about this project/company but just an FYI for others following the #LinuxMobile space, #Furilabs founder's position on #FOSS in his own words:
"i don't really care about stuff being foss"
Caring about stuff working and having a FOSS-only or a FOSS-first approach are not mutually exclusive, of course. Still hopeful though that they will benefit the ecosystem.
