  1. @mboelen kleine aanvulling.

    EtchDroid usb-schijfmaker #Fdroid
    f-droid.org/packages/eu.depau.
EtchDroid ISO to USB Writer - #GooglePlay

    Recently:
    - F1 is back! Kinda surprised Verstappen re-signed for so many years.
    - Migrated to new version after much delay
    - Woah when did Basic change its looks. I miss the old one...
    - Pushed a huge 'version' change to my site (I really need to do update the changelog)
    - Thanks to @paulrobertlloyd, @rick and @aciccarello for working so much on 's development!

Hope everyone is going well! Have a nice weekend 😀

I found it a little bit more fiddly (than on #UbuntuTouch) to get Waydroid working in #PostmarketOS but this wiki page was helpful:

    wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Way

After that, downloading the #fdroid apk and installing AuroraStore was plain sailing. So in short AuroraStore is already supported (in a way, i.e. in an Android container) in Linux on mobile devices.

  6. #Olauncher tip: you can rename applications in the all-applications drawer with an emoji at the beginning so tat they get sorted to the top of the list. That way you get six extra hand-picked launchers on a secondary screen from the main eight.

The application names aren't sorted, because the emojis are different, but you could probably use something like a bullet "•" instead so that the names remain sorted.

  7. Gosh! The #MusicBrainz app is on #Fdroid while the one for #Discogs is not.
    Change this must.

  10. RIP the official #fdroid client (as of 2.0-rc0). The ui lags like hell. Feels like I am using a "web" "app". The search seems broken: searching for "droid" brings no results. (Had to find droid-ify manually through categories.) And the "back" input closes the program instead of closing the search ui. Enshittification at its finest.

  11. @clouderst @grote Update #FDroid full today, you'll get the same + extra features over Basic.

  12. If you're tired of using proprietary software and devices to cast media to your TV, did you know there is an open source protocol called #FCast?

#CastLab, an app that I maintain, works with this protocol. It is only available on #FDroid: f-droid.org/packages/app.fedil

    More about FCast: fcast.org/

Don't hesitate to take back control. The app also works with #Kodi and any other device supporting #DLNA.

  13. I just think it generally reduces the quality available on , and I would really like to see apps that look and work better, generally, on the platform. This is sometimes a blocker that I don't always feel is justified.

    My 2 cents.

  14. And no shade thrown to devs - I do open source work myself, and it's really hard, time consuming, often unrewarding. Maintenance is a burden, having to keep up with platform updates, adding new features, fixing bugs.

I ended up having to split my build between F-Droid and /Apple .

Which sucks for my users. They're going to be stuck with a slightly inferior experience.

  15. I love ! But as a concept more than practically.

You want to develop an app, and you have all the code in it open source. But then you push an update that blocks it from being built.

And why is that? Because somewhere you depend on a package or library that isn't entirely FLOSS.

And I get that -- I really do. That's basically why the users use it. Myself included. But then you have this conundrum where you have several not great options.

  16. Did you know you can use your phone to provide onramps to the TOR network to help people bypass censorship?

Seems like a very cool project: https://f-droid.org/packages/io.bloco.snowflake/

I've had it running on my phone today. Pretty modest battery drain, and it can be set to only run on wifi and/or while charging.
