@eteryu na okres przejściowy wybrałem synchronizację kalendarza iCloud przez DAVx5 z Fossify Calendar.
Po zakończeniu i stabilizacji #deapple najprawdopodobniej przejdę na Tuta. Warunkiem jest bezproblemowe wysyłania zaproszeń w kalendarzu do innego użytkownika iCloud.

Today I tried RawTherapee and ART (A Raw Toolbox) as an alternative to Adobe Lightroom. There's no AI/cloud nonsense or distractions, they consume less computer resources, and there are lots of functions, which makes me feel excited. Also, both are FOSS and can run on Linux. But most importantly, I realized that I'm processing the images differently and achieving visual treatments that I never got before.

I "had" two first gen Apple HomePods, and loved their sound. But the mandatory pairing to the idevice with Apple ID was annoying.

They could have incorporated mesh router tech to link a whole house, but instead we got a Siri spy. 😖

So, just one (of many) reasons that I left the Apple ecosystem. So happy to stream ANY of our devices to the (Bluetooth supporting) AudioEngine HD5 speakers.

They sound mighty fine, and don't have any microphones!

IF I was a big tech company, claiming to be PASSIONATE about customer privacy & security, while also trying to keep certain "entities" off my back, so I can rake in Billions in profit.

I would NOT create a "back door".

I WOULD create a vulnerability that only certain "entities" know about.

Then, if broadly discovered, I'd enthusiastically patch it, patting myself on the back.

Meanwhile, I'd create an alternate vulnerability for those same "entities" to use.

I've been trying to create an open source replacement for our AppleTV, using Linux.

Running Jellyfin is pretty great. But running Netflix as a web app is pretty miserable (given time).

Maybe it's Firefox, or maybe web-apps are just not doable with our current corporate geo-politics.

I'll regroup and try a different setup configuration.

Anyone got a suggestion?

But the Municipality of Lund where I am, as of recent, a member of the board of education has Edge as the ONLY allowed browser for accessing the intranet on their iOS iPads.

The thing I like about my time on GrapheneOS is simply that I can focus on what I want to do, and fully curate my interaction with it.

I'm also very happy with my photo experience. Want to take raw photos that are supported in darktable? Try Open Camera.

The phone hardware plays a secondary role, especially when OS features aren't intentionally designed to work "only" on latest models (aka Apple and GoogleOS).

I highly recommend trying it out.

Apple likes to do this. A sort of wink-wink to law enforcement. Obviously, law enforcement knows all about this already.

They got into trouble for sharing unencrypted notifications with law enforcement/gov, and as far as I know, notifications in ios are still not encrypted.

I don't think this is by accident.

So here I am having dug deep into the #deGoogle world for sometime (including many Linux options: I have postmarketOS and Ubuntu Touch devices looking at me now, and alas my Pinephone sits on a shelf 🙂).

I think there is growing demand in the USA for a #deGoogle / #deApple option, and from my POV @iode is the way I fit with best and can see many others preferring should the alternatives I mentioned previously not be a good match for them.

I have even become the community manager for iodé!

Moje dane są wreszcie moje.

Rzeczywiście, pełna decentralizacja wymaga tu ustępstw, ale moje podejście to świadomy wybór:

DeepSeek – używam tylko do zaawansowanych zadań (obliczenia, kodowanie), bez danych prywatnych, z wyłączonym treningiem modelu i bez skanowania dokumentów
Facebook/Messenger – Facebook stopniowo zamieniam na Mastodona, ale znajomi jeszcze tam są, więc Messenger niestety pozostaje
Przeglądarki – zarówno Quiche jak i Brave to WebKit pod spodem, ale przynajmniej Quiche jest transparentny

Dodatkowa warstwa ochrony: Wszystkie aplikacje mają wyłączone śledzenie, dostęp do lokalizacji i Siri. Dodatkowo używam NextDNS do filtrowania na poziomie DNS.

To nie jest idealne, ale każdy krok w kierunku privacy ma znaczenie. Kompromisy są nieuniknione na iOS, ale świadomy wybór i wiele warstw ochrony to rzeczywiście robi różnicę.

Mit voller Überraschung und Freude bin ich auf die Nextcloud App "Immich Integration" gestoßen. Damit lässt sich eine bestehende Immich-Instanz mit Nextcloud verbinden. Dazu ist nur ein entsprechender API-Key erforderlich.
