Update: I thought this bug was fixed, but it is back again after adding a watch face.

So perhaps it happens when there is some particular combination of watch faces, complications or settings being synched.

I’ve also now discovered that it is not exclusive to the Hermès models, as I was able to reproduce it on an Ultra 3.

I’ve been following this thread for a while (lucky I don’t have the issue) – it seems like a rare but serious bug in iOS 26 where /private/var/containers/Shared/SystemGroup/systemgroup.com.apple.lsd.iconscache fills with hundreds of thousands of files (which can’t be cleared) and uses up all available storage space.

I haven’t received a single reply to my multiple re-filings of the issue. It’s so frustrating, because it’s a bug I encounter every single day, it’s reliably reproducible, but it feels like it’ll never be fixed because no one has the time (ha! ⌚️) to look at it.

For my own reference, the watchOS bug where simply going into the face switching view stops the ability to scroll the digital crown to open the Smart Stack and Notifications:

It has taken years and several attempts, but it looks like this bug with Safari’s Web Inspector (which I would run into every day!) might now actually be fixed in Safari Technology Preview 243. Here’s the commit that also details the race condition that caused it:

Also, does the Safari Web Inspector not understand nested CSS syntax, or is the red syntax highlighting colour an intentional choice for nested rules? Because having this displayed in red sure suggests that it’s invalid syntax.

(I can only assume it doesn’t understand nesting because there’s also no way to edit nested rules directly in the Styles pane of the Elements tab)

While working with the dialog element over the past week I keep seeing this Safari Web Inspector bug:

Having a nested @ starting-style rule within dialog::backdrop causes the Web Inspector to display the wrong style definitions when inspecting elements within a dialog element.

e.g. inspecting a button inside a form in the dialog shows the form’s styles as the button’s styles, an off-by-one type bug.

Unable to disable widgets on headless Mac being connected to via screen sharing. Didn't try a reboot, but relaunch of finder, disconnect/reconnect via screen sharing tried.

Hey Apple engineers, I’ve now got a sysdiagnose that should capture this serious excessive CPU usage issue with Pages, corespotlightd, fileproviderd, com.apple.CloudDocs.iCloudDriveFileProvider, tccd, etc that occurs when shared Pages documents stored on iCloud Drive are left open in the background.

Hey Safari/WebKit engineers, here’s a new one for you: Safari constantly repaints the contents of a background tab, causing very high CPU usage, until you switch back to the tab and it stops.

(specifically in my case, the site is app.fastmail.com @fastmail - I suspect it does a background update that triggers a repaint/relayout and that gets stuck in a loop)

Filed FB20661489 "Reveal folder" does open Finder window with correct path, but doesn't make it frontmost

This is quite confusing. You click "Reveal in Finder" somewhere, a window opens, you start typing, but… you can't.

@karlcow Hi Karl, just letting you know that this bug is still there in Safari 26 and I’ve filed a fresh bug report, FB20644457. It’d be great if you could get someone to look at it. Although the bug has been there for at least three years, it’s now happening so frequently that it’s almost impossible for me to use Safari for web development.

The report includes a screen recording, reproduction steps, etc.

This is also reproducible in the latest STP Release 229.

@dashorst I’ve reported this bug (FB20414621) and the bug report shows that there are other similar reports, so they must know about it, but I don’t think they realise just how bad it is. It still says “Resolution: Open”, too.

I really hope we don’t have to wait until they’re ready to release Safari 26.1 because this needs a fix ASAP.

I’ve seen it allocating upwards of 120GB of RAM before it crashes. It’s probably causing a lot of SSD wear too.

I can 100% reliably cause Safari 26.0.1 on macOS 15.7 to slow down and eventually close by repeatedly typing and backspacing in the address bar.

Even once I stop typing and it eventually goes back to 0% CPU, the whole browser is then sluggish when doing things like clicking into the address bar or maximising the window. Continuing to type/backspace causes it to lock up and close.

@willcroft @jensimmons I ended up submitting this as FB20414621 because it seems to be getting worse. Today Safari 26 even crashed after beachballing for a long time while trying to type in the address bar.

The bad performance seems to get worse in relation to how long Safari has been open or how much browsing has been done, so initially everything seems fine, but after a few hours it sometimes takes seconds to respond (on an M4 Pro!).

After updating to watchOS 11.6 it wasn’t doing it at first, but after editing the colour of the Hermès face and setting it to the Rouge Hands option, it started happening again.

After using #Kagi for more than a month, I can say it is absolutely worth the money. The results are miles better than Google or DuckDuckGo for the kinds of searches I regularly do.

The ability to block, raise, lower and pin sites in your search results is fantastic.

But #Safari really needs it added as a search engine option, because while the Kagi plugin is a good workaround to redirect searches, it shouldn’t be needed.

This bug is particularly annoying because it interrupts you right when you want to quickly check something in the Smart Stack.

Almost a year later and these initial feelings haven’t changed. The Apple Intelligence features that looked to me like they’d be welcome (personal context and Siri integrating App Intents to do things) haven’t shipped, have never been demonstrated live and are now delayed until some unknown date.

At this point if they could just fix the #watchOS bug where the crown becomes unresponsive, I’d be happy. ( #FeedbackAssistant FB15671870 – they thought they’d fixed it, but it isn’t fixed )

Sending corrections for POIs in #AppleMaps is almost as pointless as sending bug reports to #FeedbackAssistant

You go to all the trouble and time of sending a correction and providing a description of the adjustment that’s needed, then weeks later they reject it for unspecified reasons. (thus why it’s *almost* as pointless as Feedback Assistant, where you won’t even get an indication that anyone read it, let alone get a reply)

p.s. In case you think that turning off “Show Siri Suggestions in application” will help, I can assure you it does not affect this functionality in macOS 15.3.

Currently the only way to turn off Smart Replies in Messages is to turn off Apple Intelligence completely.

@lorihc Steps to reproduce:

1. Long-press the current watch face to bring up the watch face selection view
2. Tilt your wrist away from you so that the watch goes into “wrist down” mode - the watch face selection view will be closed and it’ll show the current watch face again
3. Tilt your wrist back up to make the current watch face active again
4. Try to scroll the crown to bring up the Smart Stack - the crown now doesn’t work as expected

Hey @lorihc! I have a 100% reliably reproducible watchOS bug with the digital crown and Smart Stack.

Since watchOS 11, when on the watch face, sometimes rotating the crown wouldn’t bring up the Smart Stack for me. I could fix it by pressing the crown to go to the App View, then pressing it again to go back to the watch face.

I’ve now just figured out steps to reproduce it and added them to FB15671870 (which also has a video and sysdiagnose).

I wonder if there are any Apple accessibility engineers on Mastodon? This bug with Background Sounds, where they randomly stop playing, still isn’t fixed in iOS 17.5.1 and it makes the feature essentially unusable.

Sometimes even just opening the App Switcher or zooming into a website in Safari is enough to make Background Sounds stop working, although I can’t find any solid pattern to it.
