How can you help me/Mom & many others - start using any privileges you have to call out unmasked people, especially in hospital settings, especially if they're public health care workers. I do that, daily - when at work & when not at work.

Got my updated 2026-2027 covid vaccine at CVS Pharmacy today! 💉
I'm in MA. Cases are rising and there's always an increase when school starts.
Was worried there would be a to-do like last year, with the Governor having to issue statewide guidance to overrule the more limiting federal guidance, to allow for widespread access. Happily, I was able to schedule my appointment easily, wasn't even asked for any qualifying conditions regarding eligibility. Hope everyone across the country will have equally smooth access! 🤞

Note the FDA approval eligibility requirements when booking your appointment and keep them in mind in the pharmacy and act accordingly! Don't forget that the CDC list of conditions is super long and includes things like being sedentary or a former smoker. They can't prove you're not sedentary or not a former smoker.
Thankfully, this time there was NO grilling me about exactly how at risk I am or any specific questions at all actually.
Importantly, there was a check box on the online sign-up flow asking something that amounted to whether you were at high risk, I don't remember the wording.
Not every CVS is the same; another one a few years ago wouldn't accept that I was high risk because I didn't have one of their short (and unpublished, and they wouldn't tell me what qualifies) list of conditions that CVS corporate considered an immune compromise.
CVS wanted me to fill out a questionnaire online on my phone and texted me a link when I got to the pharmacy counter; it tried to force me to install a mobile app. I told the pharmacist I don't want to install an app to do this and if they had paper. She then came back to me a min later with "it says here you put in the following statements online: weakened immune system cancer or whatever" (this is an actual quote hahahaha) and I was like... "yep" and that was it. Got my vaccine no problem.
