I'm no longer surprised but still think it's noteworthy: At my radiology appointment this morning, not a single hospital staff member was masked, and among the dozen or so patients in the waiting area, only 3 of us were masked - me (an Asian woman), another Asian woman, and a Black woman. 😷
Reported cases in my state (MA) are still relatively low but increasing (an undercount as they do not include at-home rapid tests), and there's always a bump when school re-starts. #MaskUp and stay safe!

Burgers for scale? If your doctor says "don't eat more than 2 burgers a day for your health", this would be like sitting down to eat 667 burgers at once. If you eat a burger every 5 minutes, that'd be 55 hours of nonstop eating burgers.

The worst air quality in the world? Chilliwack and Sunshine Valley AQI > 300, Hozomeen AQI reaching 3000. [1]
For scale, 3000 ug/m3 is hundreds of times the recommended limit:
The EPA is setting the level of the primary (health-based) annual PM2.5 standard at 9.0 micrograms per cubic meter (μg/ m3) [2]
Awful, terrible, no-good air.
Wear a mask! Run air purifiers! Trust your nose if you smell smoke, and your eyes when you see haze!

OMG. I don't think I've heard a clearer example of this. Tragic for your relative, and for us.
This explains why so many in nursing and doctors offices became complacent about protections.
I think about this kind of impact often. These people have a compromised decision making ability. And they're driving the car next to me on the highway. Or, oh,God, voting. Truly frightening.
