Strange situation this afternoon… I had to duck up to West Ashgrove… and I was on a time schedule because I had left it a bit late in the afternoon. I needed to be home by 6PM… and it was already approaching 4…
So walking there was out, and there was a little smokiness in the air. I haven't been riding in a while, so didn't think jumping on the bike was a good idea but it was a tempting prospect. The bus won out.
Donned my mask, wandered up to the bus stop. Sitting there, someone in a van pulls up and the passenger beckons me over. Not quite sure what they were about, I stated I was waiting for a bus.
They were curious about the mask and wondered if it was for COVID-19. I said yes, but also smoke (which was my bigger concern). They then went on a brief rant about there being too much technology, blamed the vaccines for causing it, then stated "I'm with you, brother", before the pair drove off.
Yeah… don't think you are actually. There are reasons for opposing 5G LTE, but COVID-19 is not one of them. Clearly a conspiracy theorist.

We have known for a while that every successive #COVID infection increases the damage the virus does to your body--especially the brain and the circulatory system, and some variants bring on severe #LongCOVID; COVID also fucks over your immune system, long term. Do y'all have recommendations for N95-equivalent masks for small children? My kid can't wear one yet, I see sources saying it's a suffocation hazard until 2 years old, but I want to test some masks with relatives' kids.

Any #StillMasking #Covid #CovidIsNotOver .au folks have experience with Ausair Airflex masks? On the positive side, they're claiming kn95 certification, on the down side, they're on half price sale, which is worrying insofar as it suggests they might have wound down production, and maybe the filters will cease availability.
Need something a bit more convenient / quick doffable for outdoors / crowds than my 3M Auras.

Reading a post about how Jesse Jackson publicly hugged people with AIDS, around the time I was 12—at a time they were treated with fear and contempt; at the height of my worrying about catching it myself in being sexually abused—while the first line concerning nuclear war in Pink Floyd's 'Mother' kicks in over my earbuds, and I think to myself how our now is honestly more unsettling to me than that from three-quarters of my lifetime ago.

This is a great instance for a number of reasons!
One of the things that I really like - which others may find odd - is that sometimes when I am about to log on, nothing is trending. The page is empty except for the words, "Nothing is trending at the moment."
Another is that moderator(s) are conscientious enough to send a warning occasionally about a new follower that might be a little shady.
It is a great little instance! Happy to be welcomed here!

My friends should be glad that we mask!
I was too sick to eat much yesterday (a bad flare that's lasted over a week now) and this morning I realised how strong our breath must smell of garlic! Steven did eat our usual, so I got a good chance to smell his unmasked breath.
So not only are we protecting ourselves from airborne diseases, we are also protecting everyone else from our garlic breath! Ha ha.
We're really loving our new Flow Mask Pros we got this week, especially with the halo strap. We got ours through @donatemask . It is super comfortable.
I'm looking forward to being well enough to go out and wear it!
