I've done a poem tonight instead of sleeping.
It is a little meditation on resistance, rage, and the ugly moral paradox at the heart of fighting authoritarianism: how do we destroy systems that destroy people without letting destruction become the thing that defines us?
Because yes, sometimes resistance has to be fierce. Sometimes “be nice” is simply another way of telling the vulnerable to lie still.
But there is a thin line somewhere in the fire. And I think we have to keep looking for it, even when our hands are shaking.
Especially when our hands are shaking.
Here it goes:

The Lullaby of Cruelty
History hums its lullaby of cruelty:
soft-shoed bureaucrats clicking pens like triggers,
dining on paperwork,
their napkins folded from someone else’s skin.
They never raise their voices, only their quotas.
Evil wears beige.
Evil files reports on time.
Evil has a nice, clean kitchen.And yet:
every resistance eventually learns the tremor of rage,
the sweetness of breaking the thing that broke you.
To tolerate the intolerant is to cradle a viper
and call it misunderstood.
But to strike back
is to feel its scales under your own palm
and wonder when they started to feel like yours.We tell ourselves we’re better.
We hang morality from our necks like a saint’s relic,
but it clinks like a collar in the dark.
Because the truth is unwashed and inconvenient:
sometimes you must ruin a monster
to keep the world from rotting.
Sometimes gentleness is a luxury
you can’t afford with the bodies still warm.And yet:
even as I whisper: fight!
I taste iron on my tongue,
not from blood, but from the rust of certainty.
Because every revolution sharpens its halo
until it’s a blade.

On 26th of August, the US government designated the A/I collective as a "global terrorist organization".
The A/I collective has provided free online services to antifascists worldwide for more than twenty years. Considerable wins in antifascist struggle have been helped by their services.

On 26th of August, the US government designated the A/I collective as a "global terrorist organization".
The A/I collective has provided free online services to antifascists worldwide for more than twenty years. Considerable wins in antifascist struggle have been helped by their services.

This past Tuesday, antifascist activist Maja T. was sentenced by a court in Budapest to eight years in prison. The trial appears to have been largely bereft of substantive evidence, but that's Hungarian law in the present moment.
Here is my translation of Maja's statement to the court before the verdict was handed down. There's some pretty weighty stuff in here, but ultimately it is a heartfelt expression of the importance of solidarity from the outside for people serving long prison sentences for bullshit reasons.
