  1. Velké podniky už v EU nesmí likvidovat neprodané oblečení a obuv
    ct24.ceskatelevize.cz/clanek/e

V Evropské unii v neděli vstupuje v platnost zákaz likvidace neprodaného oblečení a obuvi.

  11. A quotation from Carlyle

At length, after infinite effort, the two parties come into actual juxtaposition; and Thirty stands fronting Thirty, each with a gun in his hand. Straightway the word “Fire!” is given: and they blow the souls out of one another; and in place of sixty brisk useful craftsmen, the world has sixty dead carcasses, which it must bury, and anew shed tears for. Had these men any quarrel? Busy as the Devil is, not the smallest! They lived far enough apart; were the entirest strangers; nay, in so wide a Universe, there was even, unconsciously, by Commerce, some mutual helpfulness between them. How then? Simpleton! their Governors had fallen-out; and, instead of shooting one another, had the cunning to make these poor blockheads shoot.

Thomas Carlyle (1795-1881) Scottish essayist and historian
    Sartor Resartus, Book 2, ch. 8 (1834)

  16. Finally finished my big tub of yogurt that "expired" last October. The factory seal wasn't breached til ~1 month ago, and it's taken me awhile to get it finished. It was fine. Not it's best, but fine. Been eating it with granola from the fridge I'm sure is long expired also, but I threw out the box.

    Lesson:
Use sense and senses, not arbitrary numbers when analyzing food. It all lasts longer than stated; sometimes much longer.

  21. @VeroniqueB99

This one graphic is an indictment of American Health Care...

"The U.S. stands alone, far from its peers. We spend roughly twice as much as other western countries for mediocre results. We seem to be exceptionally bad at living longer lives by spending more on healthcare." (from the book I'm writing)

This is because we don't have an actual system. Just a cobbled together collection of public and private silos with lots of holes in between. Such a non-system is an invitation for waste, abuse, and outright fraud.

    "American Exceptionalism" indeed!
