A #LANTERN FOR MY MIND
A lot of people seem to imagine AI as some dark public altar where you place private things, and they are immediately handed to the world.
That is not how I use AI.
For me, AI is closer to a spell checker, #search tool, reading aid, and #thinking mirror.
Since my #stroke, writing is slow. One finger does the work. #AI helps me process what I read, understand what I am trying to say, and reply with more #care.
I don’t use it to expose people. I don’t include surnames, email addresses, #metadata, locations, or anything that identifies a person.
I use it the way someone else might use Google, a #dictionary, a grammar checker, or a trusted notebook.
It helps me think.
It helps me #write.
It helps me slow down before reacting. Like any tool, it can be used badly. So can a #phone, a #camera, a #diary, or a #mouth.
The question is not “AI or no AI?”
The question is: am I using this #tool with care, honesty, and above all, #kindness
That is the only part I can really be #responsible for.

A #mouth built for efficiency may have helped the earliest #bird fly
About 150M years ago, in a coastal lagoon in what is now Germany, the oldest known bird gobbled up food with a beak built for efficient eating.
Called #Archaeopteryx, the animal had a toothed beak, hooked claws for grasping or climbing and feathered wings that it used for gliding and short bursts of flight. It is the earliest #dinosaur that scientists also classify as a bird.

In the pharmaceutical industry, there has been a push to disclose all clinical trial data, even failed trials, and in support of that movement, I have to ethically report a failed trial. A scientific dead end. Toothpaste is not able to be pushed through a hand soap dispenser. It's something both my partner @[email protected] and I have been stewing over and decided to invest €6 to satisfy our curiosity. The design flaw seems to be that tube is too small.
Now we have a soap dispenser with a bottle's worth of toothpaste kinda sucked in inside it. It does not function in any way close to intended, for either our purpose or the original manufactured purpose. #scientific #method #mouth #teeth -
