Obacht! Ich beginne gerade einen Vorgang, der das letzte mal vor mind. 20 Jahren stattgefunden hat - ich brenne eine CD.

Just ripped my Christmas present for @bright_helpings to the fileserver - the 4CD #BruceSpringsteen #Nebraska 82 extended edition.

I used #K3b to rip the CDs, then just dragged and dropped them to a shared folder in our #Nextcloud which is the same folder #Navidrome uses to serve out music to our phones.

The hardest parts were the standard archivist process of deciding on a folder structure and ID3v2 tags for the MP3 files, and finding appropriate cover art.

Free Software that I rely on. One per day.

My head-canon is that it stands for "KDE Burn Baby Burn". I may have heard that somewhere, but not sure. 🤔

In any case, it's my favorite software for ripping and burning optical media: CD, DVD, Blu-Ray. Or you can just create the ISO image.

This is the final stop for me for authoring a DVD release.

And it's the final stop for my list.

Ich habe als #Linux Bedienoberfläche #KDE / #Plasma und dazu passend das CD Programm #K3B installiert.

Ich lege einfach eine Audio CD ins Laufwerk, öffne sie in K3B und kann dann die Stücke/Lieder einzeln oder als Verzeichnis in beliebigen Formaten, zum Beispiel #MP3, #Flac, #OggVorbis und andere irgendwohin kopieren.

Es gibt noch weitere Organisationen, die #Kommunen in der Auseinandersetzung mit Konflikten unterstützen, zum Beispiel das #K3B aus Salzwedel in #sachsenanhalt, für das ich ebenfalls unterwegs bin. Eine tolle Entwicklung. Vor wenigen Jahren scheuten sich Kommunen oft, Hilfe in Anspruch zu nehmen und über Konflikte zu sprechen. Das hat sich geändert.

#KDE #Plasma 6.4 gibt einen interessanten Warnton bei Aufforderung zur Passworteingabe für Rootrechte aus, den ich so noch nicht gehört habe. Früher war der Dialog auch ohne Ton. #K3b spielt nach Beenden des CD-Rippens auch einen neuen Klang.

Je cherche sur le Net (oui je dis Net, je suis vieux) le moyen de graver des fichiers image type .bin / .cue sous #linux. Pour ma #pcengine

Car #brasero #k3b etc… Me refusent ce droit.
Et la réponse que je trouve majoritairement c’est : Virtualbox/win10/imgburn

Avec tout les mecs qui bossent sur les logiciels libres dans le monde entier. Y en a pas un qui a posté sur un obscur forum une autre solution que de retourner sous Windows 🤷‍♂️

Je vais fouiller tout le week-end je pense.

Same here recently
#handbrake (has a nice batch feature) and #K3b for the simple cases and #sh with #ddrescue and #ffmpeg et al. for the harder cases all on a #X61 on a #Debian distro

@toxision For DVDs I just use #k3b to create an ISO image and then open it in #VLC. Not even required to mount it first.

I am starting to think that in pushing snaps Canonical are making Ubuntu much harder to use than it need be - or than it used to be.
Having had problems getting Inkscape, as a snap, to work with my vinyl cutter I have now had a similar problem with K3b, which gave an error message saying it couldn't find any optical drives. So, uninstall it as a snap, reinstall as a .deb package and it finds the DVD drive straight away.
This is progress?

Ich habe heute das erste Mal seit Jahren eine CD-R gebrannt. Wollt ihr raten, weshalb? 😀 Tipp: Ich bin gänzlich unfreiwillig in die Situation geraten.

Ganz unten im Büroregal habe ich noch Rohlinge gefunden. Die Verpackung hatte schon etwas Staub angesetzt. Richtige CD-Marker habe ich keine mehr gefunden – Edding muss in dem Fall reichen.

I was really productive on the computer just now! I installed #K3b , cleaned up old journal entries and packages to save about 1.5 GB, finally copied my #GameCube save files to my #MemCardProGC so I can back them up, I configured Dolphin with my game dumps I made, and installed my officially-sourced copy of #Photoshop CS2 in Wine. You may not know this, but back in 2013 I ran Photoshop CS2 on #WindowsXP for cleaning up business card scans for yearbook. Tried #Premiere CS2 but it hangs.

Siguiendo con el tema de los discos ópticos, #dvd+rw-tools respeta el estándar Blu-ray y realiza la verificación mientras graba (https://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/Blu-ray/). Tanto #K3B como #Brasero son usuarios de dvd+rw-tools así que salvo que se indique lo contrario al grabar un #BD-R lo preformatearán con espacio para recolocar sectores defectuosos en caso de haberlos.

Ich stoße gelegentlich auf .CUE-Dateien für FLAC-Ein-Datei-Alben, die sich nicht per #k3b in Einzeldateien konvertieren lassen, irgendwas Krummes mit der Formatierung wahrscheinlich. Hab jetzt #Flacon dafür entdeckt, das konvertiert dann anstandslos durch.

It's been a very, very long time since I had to burn any sort of optical media. I'm glad I finally get to use one of the blank #DVDs that I have laying around for something. :D

Finally discovered why I've not been able to burn any dvds for the last month or two:

kernel module sg was not getting loaded. Not sure what happened, but modprobe'd sg and #K3B started working again.

Good news, because want to use a #SystemRescue CD newer than summer 2021.

(I really should just get a 1GB usb drive at #MicroCenter for this stuff, but I have sooo many blank DVDs left from the 2000's.)
