By "educated" I would mean what Jefferson meant...having read the major works of literature, having an understanding of the broad periods of history into which the world's past is divided, perhaps speaking another language or at least being aware of other languages and having some competence. But I don't look to find an educated person in the ranks of university graduates, necessarily. Some of the most educated people I know have never been near a university.

I love exploring areas away from the trails. I love it when they're muddy. And I really love it when the mud's deeper than my wellies.
This was a boggy area I explored last month. It was great fun!

A small stream somewhere on the North York Moors.
I was hiking with others so it wasn't appropriate to explore it, although in places it had some delightful looking areas of boggy moss and I was sorely tempted.

What is it about #Journalists that they have lost their personal voices while going about their job… reporting… analysing… informing… By all accounts #Parliament is a a #Swamp filled with #Egos and #UntramelledAmbitions (because any #idealism that spurrs anyone entering politics is soon knocked out of them).
