I am reading Wolfe Hall, by Hilary Mantel - I must read everything she has written: brilliant stuff.
Anyway, I just came across this glorious line: Thomas Cromwell speaking with King Henry VIII, "“No ruler in the history of the world has ever been able to afford a war. They’re not affordable things."
And I wish we had a Thomas Cromwell today, who would have the courage to speak truth to power.

This is one of the arguments that the #US and #EU are using right now to attempt to sway public opinion against encryption. They're calling tech/web organizations' resistance to government backdoors "hypocracy," because some companies have complied with repressive governments.
"But why not with *our* governments?!"
The usual Helen Lovejoy argument is being used to justify more snooping.

I made a huge batch of Tuscan bean soup the other day, and it's already nearly gone.
My partner doesn't like the texture of celery, so I liquefied a package of celery rather than chopping it.
Also, I soaked more beans than I meant to... but it still came out delicious.

Does anyone else have any experience getting back to their physical routines after an #Injury?
It's going to be #Winter soon, but I still want to get out onto my #Bicycle as soon as I possibly can.
A #Hernia has been keeping me from commuting by #Bike, but I'll put some grippier, chunkier tires on and bundle up if I have to.
My #Doctor says two more weeks. Maybe I'll upgrade my #Ubuntu machine to 22.04 in the mean time.

Tak sobie myślałem, że w sumie #Wolfenstein 3-D był bardziej realistyczny niż #Doom, biorąc pod uwagę, ile broni i amunicji człowiek dźwiga w tym drugim. Ale wtem uświadomiłem sobie, że przecież w Wolfensteinie dochodzi do tego dźwiganie ton skarbów.

I was wondering how #Wolfenstein 3-D was more realistic than #Doom, given how heavy must be all the weapons and ammunition you are carrying. But then, it occurred to me that in Wolfenstein you also end up carrying literally tons of treasure.

Alors c'est pas très fin (euphémisme) et les phases d'infiltration sont vraiment inintéressantes mais les méchants c'est des nazis alors c'est parfait.
Et le côté rétro-futuriste est sympa je trouve.

Fotos von der #Rurtalsperre, los ging es in Steckenborn, super #Wanderung, genannt "Fünf Bäche", schön durch den Wald, entlang an Bächen, moderate Steigung und nach etwas über der Hälfte gibt es Restaurant, Café, Döner und WC an der Rurtalsperre in #Wolfelsbach.
Fotos folgen noch, denke die lade ich vom PC aus hoch, dann kann ich die Beschreibung leichter erstellen.
Es sind mehr als 5 Bilder, also kommt rüber um alle anzusehen.Ein schmaler Weg führt an dichtem Grün entlang. Daneben stehen viele schlanke Bäume mit hellgrünem Laub, darunter wachsen Gras und niedrige Pflanzen. Dazu diese Stille im Wald, bei der man fast nur die Vögel hört.
