Ayer me encontré una baraja de Tarot de los Ángeles en perfecto estado. Las ilustraciones son bastante malas y son demasiado anchas para manejarlas bien pero me hizo gracia porque la carta de la música es una copia de un amigo. El asunto es que buscando a la autora del tarot en internet, tiene una entrevista diciendo que desde que leyó la biblia todas esas cosas del tarot y médiums que hablan con ángeles son productos del diablo.

Edit: 2h later, I managed to launch Diablo II (main) and Torment once (a gog game), with some graphics bug and can't figure out how to start them again. The semi-solution that best worked so far was to download their windows installer and then run that in Steam as a "non-steam game" with the compatibility tool Proton.
Edit 2: after looking at this tutorial I understood that 1) every game installed this way in Steam is within its own little environment, some kind of sandboxing? that replicates the structure of Windows and 2) once I've installed the game as a non-steam game I need to update the path in the game properties to where the game launcher actually is.
problem is because of the sandboxing, I can't install Diablo II LOD extension because it needs to recognise the already -installed DII.. unsure how to fix that
otherwise it seems to be working except that I get scintillating bands in all the games I've installed this way.. yes it's probably a problem of NVIDIA drivers 😓

В самом начале нулевых мне посчастливилось сыграть в Nox, удививший меня нетипичной комбинацией геймплейных механик, затягивающим игровым процессом и интересной завязкой! Могу сказать, что это был довольно необычный для своего времени проект, который даже по прошествии десятилетий почти не имеет аналогов. Мне хорошо запомнилось, как в те годы его сравнивали, да и продолжают почему-то это делать в наши дни, с Diablo II, что кажется очень странным. На мой взгляд, игры совершенно непохожие, с разной центральной механикой и геймплейной сутью, с абсолютно различным подходом к развлечению игрока. Но, думаю, это произошло оттого, что проекты вышли почти одновременно (с интервалом менее, чем полгода), и многие ещё неопытные в терминах игроки (да и пресса) очень часто называли их братьями по жанру, во многом из-за изометрического вида и сражений с монстрами с помощью навыков. Вот только сравнение этих двух игр сейчас, спустя десятки лет, не несёт в себе никакого вреда, а тогда такое обсуждение ничего, кроме урона по репутации, создателям Nox не приносило (ну ведь правда, если я хочу диаблоид, зачем мне Nox, когда есть сиквел Diablo?). Из-за этого продавалась игра не так хорошо, как хотелось бы студии и издателю.

Killed Lazarus, and I'm at the end - exactly 30 days after starting my run as Alathra the rogue! I like to take it fairly slow, and I have. Now for the big demon himself. I suspect I won't have too much trouble - Lazarus is usually tougher and he was pretty much a breeze. Rogue arrows ftw! Find or buy a good bow!

Down in level 13 (and Alathra is now level 20). Was thankfully able to skip a lot of level 11, as those damn demons there kept surrounding me and killing me- but the succubi and other demons aren't too bad now since I found this BADASS bow that adds 101% damage. Almost breezing through level 13. Only a couple more to go!
Lots of decapitated bodies down here.

Finally making some damn progress on level 9 in Diablo with my rogue run.
A big key for the rogue here is firing arrows toward where you know the monsters are (once you've died from them enough times to learn, ffs) to taunt them to come over near one of these wood enclosures with the door.
Then, you run inside, close the door, and fire out, chugging health potions. It works. They run over fast and want to surround you. My rogue Alathra is level 18 now, and pretty tough (Arkaines Valor etc) but if the monsters surround you on floor 9, they'll just kill you over and over. You can't even chug potions fast enough.
So I fully filled my inventory with health potions, had a town portal ready to go, kept saving every time I killed a few more, and I think I'm finally getting somewhere now.
I mean, I kept dying here a LOT. Was even trying Stone Curse, melee weapons, anything. It was brutal. Maybe now I can progress some more.

Moved the hacked PS1 mini (it has like 80+ games on it now thanks to Autobleem, the most important of them being Diablo) to the living room to start up a new Diablo run. I beat it two years ago in September and I started my run(s) in August 2021. Something about August and fall, I guess. Last time, I tried a sorcerer but struggled til I switched to fighter, which I beat it with. This time, I'm trying a rogue. Never tried rogue before. Should be wild. Time for tons of saving and leaving all my gear on the ground in town! 🤣

Have I done #TenGamesToKnowMe here yet? I forget.
If I have, this is an updated version for 2023. Here's mine, in no particular order.
* Centipede (my favorite game ever. Arcade version! Lemme shoot those bugs!)
* Black Widow (also the arcade version - I'm totally hooked on this one too, and it was a more recent discovery. When I go to an arcade with retro machines, I basically just want to play this and Centipede the whole time.)
* Wolfenstein 3D (a classic, still playable. Who doesn't love killing digital Nazis?)
* Diablo (1, 2, 3, 4, Immortal, any. Just choose one and I love it. What a series. Hooked.)
* Gun Nac (my favorite technical [ship based] shootemup-- if you don't count Centipede as a shootemup. A rare one for the NES. If you like shooters and get the chance to play this, even emulated, don't miss it.)
* Wizodd (I love roguelikes and indie games, and this one is both. Just a cool, simple game that's definitely beatable and replayable. But you won't beat it every time!)
* Mario Kart (another that it doesn't really matter the series, although the Wii one might be my favorite, closely followed by the SNES one. I definitely play the Wii one the most.)
* Doom (1 or 2, preferably. I feel like those are most classic, and those are the ones that got me hooked. More recent ones I'm not as much about, but those first two.. wow.)
* Beam Rider (I'm throwing this in because it's an amazing game for the Atari 2600. Maybe one of the best ones. I feel like it gets overlooked with all the other great ones on the system, River Raid, etc.)
* Beekyr Reloaded (okay, this is a weird one. I was tempted to put Neko Navy or Q-Yo Blaster or another modern indie shootemup that I love in here somewhere instead, but Beekyr is too rad. I love bees and I love shooters, so this one was definitely for me, despite its creator not really being happy with its port.)
Those are my ten, and I'm sticking with them. (At least for today 😂). There are SO MANY other games I love, but these ten are huge.

There's a free app called DevilutionX that allows you to play the original Diablo on mobile. You can jump in and play the demo instantly, and if you have the original game, you can load it up on your phone and play the full version. Pretty wild 🤣
