  1. The grand Széchenyi Chain Bridge (1849), the oldest permanent suspension bridge in the Hungarian Capital, Budapest, glows with warm lights at night. Its reflection dances on the calm waters of the Danube rive; a lasting symbol of national freedom and unity.

  3. #PortfolioDay is back! Here are a couple recent pieces I’ve completed.

I’m a northern California artist living along the Redwood Coast, and my most popular work right now features birds. I also do Art Nouveau-styled fairytale pieces, and stylized local flora & fauna. I do everything by hand using Procreate on my iPad, then I print everything out on my own high-end 12-color gicleé printer. I do greeting cards and limited edition prints.

    Here’s my website:

From there, you can find my livestream, my blog, and sign up for my regularly irregular newsletter (and get 525+ phone wallpaper versions of all my artwork!).

  4. My new printer is fabulous!

It doesn’t do the full-bleed greeting cards I’ve made, nor the full-bleed 11x17” prints. It does other sizes, but not those two.

But what it does do is gicleé pigment printing instead of the dye-based ink I was using. And I can now make prints at larger sizes than I was previously.

So I’ll be shifting my future work toward 16x20" limited edition print runs of 10 (with optional frames) instead of the 11x17" runs of 30.

    We’ll see how that goes.

The ink is cheaper in the long run, I’m told. And I’ve been stuck in a “must-make-new-stuff-constantly” cycle for a while now, and I hope that perhaps this will help me slow down and concentrate on quality instead of quantity. It’s a huge step forward for me, and I think it will elevate the caliber of the presentation of my work.

The print quality is still amazing, and while it’s subtle there is indeed a different character to the appearance of the prints. Maybe I’m imagining it, but there seems to be less “translucency” to the image? I dunno. It’s just more substantive somehow.

It will be a long slog to “retro-format” cards without the wrap-around over the spine, but I have to wonder if that might make them look more like actual “art cards” instead of mass-produced items. I’m excited about it.

    Onward!

  5. So, I just launched my store
    susannahcragwick.com/shop.html
It's more of a product catalog & the slow intentional nostalgic vibes are what I need.
Handmade scrunchies and downloadable printable greeting cards all designed in Finland.
For years I told myself my art wasn't good enough to sell. I'm so done with that shit, blocking myself from what I want.
