  1. Wow - apparently *none* of the #Gardaí are #pursuit trained to same standards as officers in GB / NI (or other European countries).

How even can a country operate like that?

Folk will be constantly at the mercy of reckless drivers or outright criminals / sociopaths. I have also seen quite a few Irish tooters over the years pointing this out

Sorting this out won't be an easy task - #roads in GB were quite lawless until things got cleaned up starting around late 1990s,. #CarCulture is strong, stubborn and resilient, and older #motorists still resent limitations of their "freedom" and many vote for parties such as Reform / Restore out of spite..

  2. I'd like to nominate for the #Darwin award the 200 or so #motorists who tonight drove past (nearly over) a #motorcyclist who was lying on the ground after a serious #roadaccident on #TulseHill #London. Clearly no fucks given about human life, they just beeped and drove round over the pavement, with debris everywhere, cos the guy dared delay their journey. I had heard the horrible noise of crushed metal but thought no one had been injured from the way #cars were driving thereafter. I was wrong.

  3. The sentencing of Cassius Turvey’s killers shows courts still struggle to deal with racism

"The brutal homicide of 15-year-old Noongar Yamatji boy, Cassius Turvey, by a group of white men revealed the racial schisms in Western Australian society. Turvey was walking home from school in October 2022 when he was abruptly beaten to death."

  8. Anyone from #WeirdCarMastodon or the #motorists on here in general use this #Custodian website/app for storing #car related data?

It seems to be aimed at enthusiasts (and poshos who can afford supercars), I'm starting to put a few bits of info about the #GolfGTI on it but am wary it will become chargeable or enshittified in some way and there's no easy data export at the moment (although the devs have said they aren't planning to charge for it as its funded by selling the classic car insurance)
