People often comment on how people with handicap parking passes don't 'look disabled', forgetting that invisible disabilities exist.
I went to the store today, expecting it to take 5 minutes so I didn't bother with my cane.... it took 20 and I barely made it back to the car. Even then to an outside observer I probably was still walking like an able bodied person, just slower, because I have years of practice surviving chronic pain.
That unknown factor is why I use my handicap permit if I am not 100% sure I can make it back without it.
