  1. MAN DISCOVERS PORTION CONTROL
    LESS FOOD, SAME IDIOT 💎

I’ve been fasting for several years now.

Not because I possess extraordinary discipline.

I just discovered that eating all day was making me fat, tired, and remarkably committed to the sofa.

These days I eat breakfast and brunch within a 4-hour window each morning, usually between 7 am and 11 am.

Then I fast for about 20 hours until the following morning.

I didn’t leap heroically into that routine.

It took me about two years to gradually reduce my eating window from 8 to 4 hours.

Even my self-denial had to be introduced slowly.

The surprising thing is that my body now seems to prefer it.

I’ve lost weight without spending my life thinking about losing weight.

    I sleep deeply.

    Walking uphill is easier.

    Getting dressed is easier.

    My balance is better.

And I can now turn over in bed without requiring the maneuvering space of a small container ship.

People ask whether I get hungry.

    Usually, no.

Sometimes I feel like eating, but I’ve discovered that hunger and the urge to put something in my mouth aren't necessarily the same thing.

Apparently, my body is perfectly content.

My mouth just misses having a full-time job.

I’m not suggesting everyone should do this.

    I’m not a fasting expert.

I’m merely an elderly man who finally stopped eating long enough to discover that he feels better when he isn’t constantly digesting something.

For me, fasting has become less about food and more about freedom.

  3. I really back this up.

Working in healthcare I noticed vegan patients looked younger and tended to have better blood results than those eating animal products. It was so obvious that I went vegan, having been conditioned to think it was extreme. It wasn't. It just took a little research to balance and source everything.

After 5 years, a meat eating 'friend' of identical age seethed with envy because I wasn't aging like he was.

At that point my parents went vegan. They are now horrified at the poor health of their meat eating contemporaries, all now clinging to daily statins and other medications my parents don't need.

    Nature rewards kindness.
We are wired for the reward, but conditioned against it, by our societies, institutions, and profiteers.

  6. Daytime TV Politics and the Social Care Abyss: Why Prime Minister Burnham’s Cross-Party Table Is Missing the Point by Lawson Akhigbe

When Prime Minister Andy Burnham called for a cross-party "consensus" on social care, you could practically hear the collective sigh of relief from Westminster’s pundit class. “Ah, marvelous,” they purred. “The grown-ups are finally taking their seats.”
