I have been #homeless since 2023, hounded by the law, a dozen rides in the back of cop cars, usually handcuffed. Kicked out of hospitals, banks, libraries, stores, & buses. 5 arrests ( 4 under #Biden, 1 under #Trump ), faced #police brutality, spent 6 nights in jail. The last arrest was extrajudicial, and I was not even brought before a judge after spending a night in jail, just told to go away.
I slept outdoors in winters without warm clothes, in muddy orchards, in rain, on cold concrete city pavements, in sweltering heat. I was denied public defense in #courts, though I told judges I was homeless and food insecure. I fought in court, representing myself, while homeless. All charges were dropped. It was whistleblower intimidation. I had committed no crimes. I was assaulted in the streets by the security guard of a #Catholic charity. I have eaten out of garbage cans, & several times, gone hungry for 2-3 days at a time.
In December 2025, I moved to #Tokyo to avoid persecution, though it followed me here. I'm homeless and hungry here as well, probably because the #Japanese government is reluctant to grant me #political #asylum.

Subject: Driving in San Francisco
For: S.F. Bay Area Drivers

My San Francisco Story
I’ve driven people to the S.F. airport before. However, I don’t have the tracking device that’s required now to cross the Bay Bridge into the city. The State snail-mails me “violation notices”. I need to drive to Silicon Valley to pick up the notices. Then I need to navigate phone trees multiple times.
It’s a total PITA.
One highly autistic engineer friend, now disappeared, was angry that the State had started to call it “violation notices”. I agree that the term is irritating.
For former #Minetest #Luanti people, the friend was Bear and the time period was 2015 to 2020. He used the Chinese name Xiong Changnian online, but we met a few times IRL and he wasn’t Chinese.
On a lighter note, the last time that I drove to S.F. [to drop a couple off at the airport] the drive in was easy. However, I couldn’t get out of the city.
I was trapped in San Francisco.
Picture traffic backed up from the Bay Bridge to the city center. 1.5 miles of bumper to bumper all trying to leave at the same time.
I should have driven South on Highway 101 and taken the long way. Down to Highway 92 and then East across the bridge to Hayward.
Instead, I tried the Golden Gate Bridge. It would be a scenic drive, I told myself. The reality is that took me 6 hours of mundane driving to find a way back to the East Bay.
BART [the local train system] doesn’t work as an alternative. Parking at BART is full before the sun rises. I don’t know how payment works there regardless.
Have you noticed that, in San Francisco, the intersections are full of stopped cars? Including police cars. It isn’t clear what it’s legal to do, but you need to decide quickly and with the police parked right there and trapped themselves.
The best part is what happens when I drive up the San Francisco hills. People tailgate. On steep hills. WTH. If we have to stop for a red light, when I release the parking brake, there’s a chance that I’ll roll back and hit the tailgater behind me.
Tailgaters need to be in prison. They could make bumper stickers there. “Tailgate is Second Rate, Mate.”
Parking. Let’s talk about parking.
Bear, the lost associate who I mentioned above, lived in a cab in S.F. Note: He was a skilled electrical engineer, but there was no work and he was autistic besides.
Bear said, “There is parking. You just don’t know what a parking place looks like here.”
He meant, be creative. I suppose that a S.F. native knows how to do that and not be arrested.
In general, there is no parking. I parked once in S.F., legally, and was ticketed in minutes. There was no “No Parking” sign.
There was a website to fight tickets of this type. However, the city had threatened the website because tickets are a source of funding. So, the website had shut down.
San Francisco has important businesses, restaurants to try, and community spirit. I’d like to speak with more of the activists there.
However, I don’t plan to drive in the city again. Not in this or any other lifetime. If somebody drives me, that’s different.
For readers who remember Bear aka Xiong Changnian [not many but there are some] he was able to move from his cab into a van.
However, a drunk driver smashed into the van while Bear was sleeping.
The drunk driver was doing about 80 MPH. The van was totaled and, while Bear was in the hospital, his possessions, including, IIRC, his drivers license and birth certificate, disappeared. San Francisco didn’t require the tow company that took the wreckage of his van to account for the possessions.
Bear himself disappeared a few months after that. I tried to help, but he was pretty far gone.
I learned about how the homeless system works in San Francisco from Bear. I’m not impressed by that. It’s another story.
But on a humorous note I’ll mention that Bear once urged me to move into the space underground next to an office building and live there.
The idea was that I’d break into the office on an as-needed basis. Bear said that I’d be able to use the bathrooms and the power grid and might not be caught. It was better than what most cities offered to people without housing.
I declined to try this. My life as a transient was interesting enough as things stood.

Una vista muy somera a la situación del pueblo de los Estados Unidos, quizás nos ayude a entender que el país considerado como la potencia económica mundial, es por su naturaleza, uno de los más desiguales del mundo y lleva en sus entrañas pobreza, marginación y discriminación; algunos datos nos son de utilidad para confirmarlo.
Recientes estudios señalan que la desigualdad en Estados Unidos se encuentra en su nivel más alto desde 1976, año a partir del cual existen datos comparables. “Las políticas de la segunda administración de Donald Trump están ampliándola, no sólo desde el plano fiscal, con ‘la Gran y Hermosa Ley’, que recortó una gran cantidad de programas sociales, sino también con su política comercial, que incrementa los costos de productos extranjeros y amenaza con golpear sobre todo a los más pobres”. Son los Estados Unidos el país que más ricos produce y son, asimismo, los más ricos entre los ricos. Actualmente, “…el uno por ciento más rico de Estados Unidos posee más de 54 billones de dólares. Esto es 468 veces más que el 50 por ciento más pobre. De hecho, la fortuna del 0.01 por ciento de los hogares con mayor riqueza en ese país ha aumentado en mil 843.3 por ciento desde 1976, en tanto que la del 50 por ciento más pobre lo ha hecho en apenas 119.7 por ciento, de acuerdo con una plataforma de la Universidad de California en Berkeley, que mide las brechas de acumulación en tiempo real”. Estados Unidos, con una población de 341.8 millones, mantiene a más de 140 millones de sus habitantes en pobreza o con algún grado de vulnerabilidad, aunque ciertamente, las cifras oficiales reconocen solamente a 35.9 millones en esta condición, “el 10.6 por ciento, basándose solamente en sus umbrales de ingresos”. Pero si se incluyen costos de vida, salud y vivienda, la tasa alcanza el 12.9% (44.4 millones), y si se contempla a la población que tiene serias dificultades para cubrir gastos elementales y que, por lo tanto, tiene que depender en buena medida de los programas sociales, alcanza al 43% de la población, es decir, 147,060 millones de estadounidenses (United States Census).
En otros rublos a considerar, donde se entiende están incluidos esos estadounidenses en pobreza y que es un reflejo de ello, están los sin techo: “En 2024 la cifra de quienes no contaban con un hogar se disparó hasta superar los 770,000, la más alta desde que empezó a registrarse, según el más reciente informe federal al respecto…un aumento del 18 % respecto al 2023, donde el 40% corresponde a familias con hijos…”. (BBC News Mundo, 12 de agosto de 2025). Esta cifra incluye tanto a quienes duermen a la intemperie en la calle (conocidos como homeless) como a los que están alojados temporalmente en refugios asistenciales. La falta de acceso al servicio médico es otra muestra de la deprimente situación del pueblo estadounidense: “Se estima que 27.1 millones de personas (o un 8.0%) no tuvieron seguro médico en ningún momento durante el 2024”, según el Suplemento Social y Económico Anual de la Encuesta sobre la Población Actual (CPS ASEC, por sus siglas en inglés) del 2025.
Otro gran problema que enfrenta la población de Estados Unidos es el escandaloso número de adictos, un grave problema de salud pública: Estados Unidos cuenta sus adictos por millones y “la cifra anual de dólares gastados en sustancias ilícitas la hace una verdadera industria de la economía estadounidense”. Las mismas cifras oficiales dan cuenta de ello: “En 2023, el 17.1% de la población estadounidense mayor de 12 años -aproximadamente 48.5 millones de personas- cumplía los criterios de un trastorno por consumo de sustancias” (havendetoxnow.com); además, alrededor de 28 millones de personas tienen dependencia o problemas severos con el alcohol”. Es decir, que 76.5 millones de habitantes, casi un cuarto de su población total es adicta, está enferma y, por lo tanto, incapacitada para actividades productivas.
Esta es la situación del pueblo estadounidense, al que se recortan los programas sociales, no se invierte lo necesario en salud ni en vivienda, pero en cambio se gastan millones de dólares en hacer la guerra a otros países; en revoluciones de colores e invasiones descaradas para hacerse de sus riquezas naturales, ganancias que, por lo que describen las cifras, se concentran en la élite milmillonaria de los gringos. Mientras se aprueban recortes en salud pública, “…más de 550 millones de dólares en fondos federales para programas de salud y respuesta ante pandemias, y un recorte proyectado superior a 1 billón de dólares en Medicaid en la próxima década”; según la oficina de Presupuesto del Congreso (CBO), se aumenta en el gasto militar: “…lo aprobado por el Congreso para defensa (yo diría para ataques) alcanza un billón de dólares, más del 9% del gasto público total..”
Este es el modelo de país que, de acuerdo con varios personajes de la derecha mundial y nacional, debemos seguir todos los habitantes del planeta; al que debemos subordinarnos sin chistar y aceptar que nos invada y gobierne; el que nos podrá curar de los males del narcotráfico, la violencia y la corrupción. Pero aquí está una pequeña muestra de su solvencia moral, del trato que le merecen sus propios ciudadanos, pero, por si no bastara, preguntemos a los habitantes de los países sometidos o a aquellos cuyos gobiernos se han entregado por completo a los brazos del imperialismo yanqui o peor aún, a quienes han sufrido embestida militar despiadada; miremos a Palestina y su franja de Gaza.

Libraries hold a special place in my heart, for reasons both intellectual and sentimental.
Librarians are guardians of knowledge, champions of freedom, and friends of the people. They are community members, dedicated to helping connect poor people with relevant information, so they can improve their minds, educate themselves, and access job resources.
After I became a #whistleblower in 2023, and was made #homeless , this notion was challenged.

There’s poverty, a drug epidemic, and seething discontent on the streets. Hawai’ian people are heavily overpoliced, thrown into jail without cause, and denied #justice in the #courts of the occupiers ( #USA ).
All this is hidden from the casual tourist, content to visit a golf course on the sacred land, that has been bulldozed, and be served drinks by little brown people ( usually from the Marshall Islands, Hawai’i locals have mostly left for minimum wage jobs in mainland America ).
Billionaires, like Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Ellison, Jeff Bezos, and Oprah Winfrey, “own” huge chunks of the land.
Chinese billionaire, Eva Liu, has controlled the Punalu’u Black Sand beach, with a sweetheart deal ( $1 ), and is proposing erasing this natural landmark, spawning site of the endangered Saddleback Turtles, and building resorts there, in the name of “development”.
In 2022, the Hawai’ian people had a setback in court.

Extra wide RVs parked on city streets are a common sight in Seattle’s residential neighborhoods today. That could end in July 2027 as part of a suite of rule changes being considered by the city council. It’s part of an effort to move people out of RVs and into shelter or housing.

"Driving past Veterans Memorial Park in Lewiston, you may have noticed a large, inflatable eagle that wasn't there before. That's one of the ways organizers are hoping to grab the attention of veterans in the community.
"The Homeless Veterans Mobile Stand Down is a yearly tradition in Maine put together by the Maine Bureau of Veterans' Services in partnership with the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs. Every year it makes stops in multiple cities and towns to connect homeless veterans with resources.
" 'Veterans, like anyone else, can fall across hard times,' said Ryan Lorrain, with the Maine Bureau of Veterans' Services. 'We want to make sure that we're there, providing them with the resources to lift them back up.'
"Several community organizations set up at the event. On Wednesday, there was free food, haircuts and services connecting homeless veterans to housing and jobs.
"According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Maine is the second best state when it comes to providing shelter for homeless veterans, but the number of homeless veterans has been increasing, up 12% from 2024 and 2025. "

HOLBROOK, Mass. — "Two brothers who work for the Holbrook, Massachusetts, Department of Public Works were arraigned Thursday for allegedly attacking a sleeping homeless man in a town park last month.
"Jesse Baxter, 32, of Holbrook, and Jake Baxter, 28, of Randolph, were charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod foot), assault and battery on a person over the age of 60, and witness intimidation.
"A not guilty plea was entered on their behalf.
"They were arraigned in Quincy District Court, where a judge set $1,500 bail for Jesse and $500 for Jake.
"Both men are expected to post bail and were ordered to stay away from the victim and #BrookvillePark.
"They will return to court for a dangerousness hearing at a later date.
"Both Jesse and Jake have been placed on paid administrative leave from the DPW.
"According to a Holbrook police report, officers responded to the area of Linwood Street overnight on June 20 for a report of an injured man knocking on residents' doors and yelling.
"Responding officers found the man covered in blood and bruises.
"According to the man, he was sleeping in his tent in the Brookville Park area around 12:30 a.m. when he was attacked by two men he didn't know." [Allegedly, they were there to attack a DIFFERENT homeless man that they had an argument with.]

While the state plans to close one, officials are discussing ways to keep the second program open.
"A temporary cottage community on the grounds of Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in #JamaicaPlain will shutter at the end of July, a spokesperson from the state Executive Office of Health and Human Services said. The community is no longer accepting new residents, and the nearly two dozen people housed on the grounds now will be offered alternative housing.
" 'We are committed to ensuring there is no break in services and no break in housing for those who choose to continue forward,' said Deirdre Calvert, director of the Department of Public Health’s Bureau of Substance Addiction Services.
"The cottages’ closure was first reported by WBUR.
"The cottages, which included a bed and small living area for individuals or couples, opened in 2022 amid the opioid crisis that led to a homeless encampment near the intersection known as Mass. and Cass. Since then, the community has sheltered more than 100 people, state officials said. The cottages, administered by Commonwealth Care Alliance, offered support for people in addiction while helping them transition to more permanent housing."

Thu, January 22, 2026"As Dallas-Fort Worth braces for brutally cold temperatures, freezing precipitation, and possible power outages this weekend, local city buildings and nonprofits are opening their doors as warming shelters. Here is a running list of places where people can go to safely warm up and rest. The list will be updated as more are announced.
"The City of #FortWorthTx manages an emergency overnight overflow sheltering program when temperatures reach certain thresholds and regular emergency shelters are at capacity. If regular emergency shelters and beds are full when people arrive, they will be relocated to available overflow beds at one of the available additional emergency shelter locations, the city says.They advise that individuals experiencing homelessness should first access one of the regular emergency shelters:
- Union Gospel Mission (1321 E. Lancaster Ave.)
- Presbyterian Night Shelter (2400 Cypress St.)
- Families should go to the Salvation Army's J.E. & L.E. Mabee Social Service Center (1855 E. Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth)
The City of #ArlingtonTx has additional overnight shelters available:
- First United Methodist Church, 407 N. Mesquite St. Open on dates when overnight temperatures reach 32 degrees or less for four or more consecutive hours.
- Nations Church Arlington, 1013 W. Park Row Drive. Open continuously from noon Friday-Monday as both a warming center and an overnight shelter.
- All Arlington Public Library locations and recreation centers are open to the public for warming, in designated areas, during standard operating hours.
- The Arlington Animal Services Shelter accepts pets of homeless individuals as capacity allows.
The #SalvationArmy has several warming stations available across #TarrantTx, Dallas, and #Denton Counties. They'll provide shelter and warmth, food and drink, emotional and spiritual care, and additional supplies to anyone in need.
Locations are:
- In Tarrant County, the Arlington Corps Community Center (712 W. Abram St., Arlington) and J.E. & L.E. Mabee Social Service Center (1855 E. Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth)
- In Denton County, the Denton Corps Community Center (1508 E. McKinney St., Denton) and Lewisville Corps Community Center (880 Fox Ave., #LewisvilleTx)
- In Dallas County, the Garland Corps Community Center (451 W. Avenue D, Garland) and Carr P. Collins Social Service Center (5302 Harry Hines Blvd.)
Dallas Public Libraries and Recreation Centers are open during regular hours as warming and charging stations.
The Office of Homeless Solutions provides help for unsheltered individuals in Dallas.
Austin Street Center, in partnership with the City of Dallas and OurCalling, is activating an Inclement Weather Shelter at Fair Park’s Automobile Building, at 1010 1st Ave., Dallas, beginning at 4 pm Friday, January 23. It can accommodate 1,200 individuals and will offer shuttle service, meals, restroom facilities, blankets, and a safe, heated space for those experiencing homelessness. (Note: Austin Street's shelter location at 2929 Hickory St. will not be in operation this weekend.)"

"Local officials are urging anyone without #ReliableHeat, or anyone who may be vulnerable during #ExtremeWeather, to use the warming locations available in their communities. Many sites operate during regular business hours, while several overnight shelters expand capacity during the winter months.
Officials recommend calling ahead, as hours and availability may change based on staffing, weather conditions or demand.

#Churches and #nonprofit agencies throughout the Fox Valley open temporary warming spaces based on weather conditions, community needs and staffing levels.

MANITOWOC COUNTY
#Manitowoc Warming Shelter — 702 State St., Manitowoc
The shelter is scheduled to operate November 12, 2025, through April 10, 2026, providing overnight space for up to 12 individuals along with an evening meal and breakfast.Additional housing assistance is available through Hope House of Manitowoc County, which serves families, couples and single women, and The Haven of Manitowoc County, a men’s shelter offering emergency lodging and support services.
Residents across Northeast Wisconsin can also call #211Wisconsin for a current list of open warming centers, shelters and support programs. The service operates 24/7 and helps connect people with the nearest available assistance during periods of #ExtremeCold."
