  1. A quotation from Thomas Carlyle

A man always is to be himself the judge of how much of his mind he will show to other men; even to those he would have work along with him. There are impertinent inquiries made: your rule is to leave the inquirer uninformed on that matter; not, if you can help it, misinformed; but precisely as dark as he was!

Thomas Carlyle (1795-1881) Scottish essayist and historian
Lecture (1840-05-22), “The Hero as King,” Home House, Portman Square, London

  2. Another day, another 0 interactions I get, but ironically, Threads is asking me to pay for my true self (the verified badge). I have the right to have suspicions toward Threads and Meta. I have the right to accuse them of shadow-banning me and being ableist.

  3. Your mind is a mirror.
But every experience, belief, and thought leaves behind dust.
Eventually, you stop seeing the world clearly…
and start mistaking the dust for who you are.

Clear the mirror. Return to clarity.

  4. The quiet mirror of meditation reflects what we truly are—beyond title, beyond form. Those whose identities are built on towers of self-importance will always fear this reflection, preferring the comforting distortion of their own creation.

  5. Your body is always changing. Your thoughts, your emotions—even your sense of self—shift from day to day. So what remains constant? To truly know yourself, you must go beyond what changes. You must understand the part of you that doesn’t. #Zen #Mindfulness #Consciousness #Identity #WhoAmI #Change #Impermanence #TrueSelf youtube.com/shorts/1_ASyejmgDk

  6. How much of our identity is shaped by external forces: names, culture, expectations. To live with clarity, we must go beyond what we’ve been told—and begin to discover who we are for ourselves. #Zen #Koan #WhoAreYou #Mindfulness #SpiritualAwakening #TrueSelf youtube.com/shorts/ylFqWh3v0zU

  7. “Who are you?” Through this inquiry, we’re invited to look past names, identities, and fleeting accomplishments to discover the part of ourselves that never changes—the mind beyond thought, the awareness that is always present.#Zen #Koan #WhoAreYou #Mindfulness #SpiritualAwakening #TrueSelf #Meditation #DharmaTalk #Nonduality #Awareness #ClearMind #Dharma youtu.be/7lDsR7_CsPk

  8. Almost every day, a podcast brings me another instance of someone assuming one’s identity is practically as important as breathing. But I never encounter anyone inquiring into that assumption. Could it be we cling to our identities and devote so much work to them because ignore the non-changing Self that persists behind our manufactured and vulnerable identities?

  10. Fact:

When an Autistic person calls you beautiful, we’re talking about your soul—i.e., your True Self, the emotional root of your being and how it grows into your personality as a whole; your presence and impact on the world.

It’s never an empty compliment. We mean it with all our hearts. We can see all that you are, all that you can be, and how you got where you are today. Even more so, you can trust that we not only mean it, it’s the absolute goddamn truth.

    Unsubstantiated Personal Opinion:

It’s not like we Autistics care absolutely nothing for outward appearances, it’s more like we only see outward appearances as a natural extension of a person’s relationship with their True Self. When we bother to cultivate an “image,” we always seek to best express our inner truth through the medium of fashion, with no interest in looking good to other people.

Whatever the underlying psychological and neurological differences are between Autistics, NDs excluding Autistics, and NTs (choose your preferred theory here), somewhere along the line our Ego/Self/Analog I lost the capacity for vanity. Or perhaps we threw it away along with the other incompatible traits that NTs take as inalienable and sacrosanct aspects of the human mind. It’s difficult to say for certain.

And don’t forget, we love our little bubbles; we live in our “Mind Palaces” and often come to resent the cold, empty, meaningless world of Reality. So if we come out of our bubble to look into your heart and see your truth, know that that already demonstrates how much we care about you. Our attention is our expression of devotion. So yes, we give it sparingly and resent it being seized against our will, because that’s what’s inalienable and sacrosanct to us.

    Relevant Aside:

One of my real-life fellow Autistic friends called me “you beautiful, beautiful man” last night, and honestly—and given all of the above—I had no idea how much I needed to hear that. She even doubled “beautiful”, which is one of the ways we Autistics express the strongest emphasis. I still feel all warm and fuzzy this morning.

  12. Attended a dear friend's birthday celebration last night, presenting as my true self. It was a special evening, not just for the occasion but because it was one of the first times I've been in a social setting like this since my transition. Most guests were aware of my journey, except for one. Despite knowing and trusting her, the anticipation of her reaction had me on edge.

Her initial surprise quickly turned into a heartfelt congratulations, and the night went on beautifully. But it was her parting words that truly touched my heart. Whispering 'I'm very proud of you, welcome to the club!' before she left, filled me with such warmth and validation.

Nights like these remind me how blessed I am to be surrounded by such supportive and loving people. It's moments like this that truly affirm my journey. Overflowing with gratitude. 💕 #TransitionJourney #SupportiveFriends #HeartwarmingMoments #TrueSelf
