  5. Drop something therapeutic in the comments — anything that keeps you going even when you're dying inside: a song, a ritual, a mantra, a walk, a pet, breathing exercises. I need this. If this hits too close to home, please reach out to someone you trust — you're not alone.

  7. When it comes to listening to our own body, I'm left with the impression that some people do not take a moment to discern between their ego and their body.

    Body:
Waking-up sluggish after 8.5 hours of sleep.

    Ego:
    I don't need food supplements.

  15. What is the purpose of meditation? Why should we bother sitting quietly on a cushion when there are so many other important and interesting things to do? And how can just sitting quietly ever help to make the world a better place?
If you are curious to explore these questions, this teaching is for you!

We can spend so much energy on things we have no control over. Maybe give a little more focus to the stuff we do have say over.

  21. 15 Key Lessons from Unmasking the Hidden Threats in Your Life by Dotty Wise (2024)

In a world where we often blame external circumstances for our struggles—difficult people, bad luck, or societal pressures—Dotty Wise’s Unmasking the Hidden Threats in Your Life offers a refreshing and transformative perspective. The book challenges readers to look inward and confront the real enemies: our own thoughts, beliefs, and fears. Wise argues that the most significant obstacles […] 15 Key Lessons from Unmasking the Hidden Threats in Your Life by Dotty Wise (2024)

  25. The Courage to Start

Every accomplished musician was once a beginner.

Before the applause, the confidence, and the polished performances came the first lesson, the first mistake, and the first attempt. Every journey toward excellence starts with the courage to take that first step.

Many people postpone their dreams because they feel they are not ready. They wait for the perfect time, the perfect instrument, or the perfect opportunity. But growth doesn’t begin when everything is in place—it begins when you decide to start with what you have.

The first practice session may feel challenging. The first performance may bring nervousness. The first composition may not meet your expectations. That’s part of the journey. Every step forward teaches a lesson that cannot be learned by standing still.

Progress belongs to those who are willing to begin, embrace the learning process, and keep moving forward despite uncertainty. Whether you’re learning your first chord, writing your first song, joining your first choir, or taking your first production class, don’t underestimate the power of starting today.

One courageous decision can become the beginning of a remarkable journey.

    Reflection

What dream have you been postponing, and what is one practical step you can take today to begin?

“You don’t have to see the entire journey before you begin. One courageous step today can shape a lifetime of possibilities.” — Victor Adenola

  29. MAN DISCOVERS PORTION CONTROL
    LESS FOOD, SAME IDIOT 💎

I’ve been fasting for several years now.

Not because I possess extraordinary discipline.

I just discovered that eating all day was making me fat, tired, and remarkably committed to the sofa.

These days I eat breakfast and brunch within a 4-hour window each morning, usually between 7 am and 11 am.

Then I fast for about 20 hours until the following morning.

I didn’t leap heroically into that routine.

It took me about two years to gradually reduce my eating window from 8 to 4 hours.

Even my self-denial had to be introduced slowly.

The surprising thing is that my body now seems to prefer it.

I’ve lost weight without spending my life thinking about losing weight.

    I sleep deeply.

    Walking uphill is easier.

    Getting dressed is easier.

    My balance is better.

And I can now turn over in bed without requiring the maneuvering space of a small container ship.

People ask whether I get hungry.

    Usually, no.

Sometimes I feel like eating, but I’ve discovered that hunger and the urge to put something in my mouth aren't necessarily the same thing.

Apparently, my body is perfectly content.

My mouth just misses having a full-time job.

I’m not suggesting everyone should do this.

    I’m not a fasting expert.

I’m merely an elderly man who finally stopped eating long enough to discover that he feels better when he isn’t constantly digesting something.

For me, fasting has become less about food and more about freedom.
