I've noticed something about myself lately, especially when life's little annoyances pop up. After this past year, I'm finally getting better at how I react to them.

When I was working, they were frustrating because I had to find time to deal with them. After retiring to care for Dad, they had to fit around his needs.

Then came a year of life-altering decisions that left me with so little bandwidth that even minor problems could trigger a fight-or-flight response and, honestly, a meltdown.

Now that those enormous responsibilities are behind me, I'm learning that not every problem is a crisis. Inconveniences take time and effort, but they aren't emergencies.

I've never been the most patient person, and probably never will be! But I'm getting better at putting little things into perspective instead of reacting as though they're another enormous problem to solve. And that feels like progress.
