But now I am re-reading #Promethea by #AlanMoore, JH Williams III, et al. And I think I'm going slower rather than faster—as desired subconsciously—because I know the devastating chapter with the Abyss lies ahead. I will eventually come to it.

C’est curieux de me rendre compte que c’est encore un artiste visuel se tournant vers la prose littéraire que je viens de découvrir. Les deux anglophones #AlanMoore et #AlasdairGray étaient dans la même voie, mais #Abeille devenait écrivain malgré lui : son désir de faire de la peinture était brutalement terminé lorsqu’il apprît qu’il était daltonien, « basculé, de la manière la plus inattendue, dans l’écriture romanesque » comme il disait dans un entretien. Il paraît qu’il n’a jamais dessiné des illustrations de ses propres livres, alors que #Gray l’a toujours fait lui-même et #Moore au moins pour la couverture de son pavé northamptonien « Jerusalem ». 2/3

#vendredilecture de nouveau avec des livres de l’écrivain vedette de Northampton, #AlanMoore, les deux premiers titres d’une pentalogie fantaisiste en voie de développement qui s’appelle « Long London » dont le tome 2 vient d’être publié fin mai. L’histoire fait rappeler « Un Lun Dun » (« Lombres » en français, pas mal comme traduction, prix Locus en 2008) de #ChinaMiéville pour son univers parallèle magique derrière des passages secrets, sauf que la version alternative de Londres créée par #Moore n’est pas le miroir tordu d’une ville réelle, mais met à l’œuvre un symbolisme sophistiqué digne d’un #IainSinclair (mentionné dans la dédicace, d’ailleurs). 1/2
