  1. Cabbage Egg Stir Fry Recipe

If you’re looking for a quick, simple, delicious, high-protein and low-carb meal, this cabbage egg stir fry is perfect. It comes together in minutes, uses everyday ingredients and is ideal for a quick lunch or a light dinner, especially if you’re watching your carbs or managing blood sugar.

    Ingredients

    • 1-2 tbsp oil/butter
    • 1 tsp sesame seeds
    • 4 eggs
    • 1 tbsp oil/butter (for stir fry)
    • 6 to 7 garlic cloves, finely chopped
    • 1 green chilli, chopped
    • 2 spring onions, chopped (separate whites and greens)
    • 2 cups cabbage, finely shredded
    • 1 tbsp chicken powder (I used one Maggi chicken cube. You can use chicken broth cube or similar)
    • 1 tbsp soy sauce
    • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
    • Salt to taste

    Instructions

    Step 1: Scramble the eggs
Heat oil/butter in a pan on medium flame and add sesame seeds. Once they begin to crackle, add the eggs and scramble them until just cooked. Remove and keep aside.

    Step 2: Prepare the base
In the same pan, add a little more oil. Add garlic, green chillies and the white part of spring onions. Sauté for a few seconds until fragrant.

    Step 3: Cook the cabbage
Add the shredded cabbage and cook on high flame. Keep tossing and stirring to keep it slightly crunchy and not soggy.

Step 4: Season the stir fry
Add chicken powder, soy sauce and oyster sauce. Mix well so the cabbage absorbs all the flavours. Taste check and add salt only if required.

    Step 5: Combine everything
Add the scrambled eggs back into the pan. Toss everything together and cook for about a minute.

    Step 6: Finish and serve
Add the green part of spring onions, give it a final mix, and serve hot.

  6. Last week I made the Poached Chicken and Cabbage Salad with Cashews and Miso Dressing recipe from J. Kenji Lopez-Alt’s The Wok cookbook.

The salad was very good! It’s a nice variation of standard chicken salad. 4 stars ★★★★☆

  16. Indoor growing update. It's all getting bigger. The peppers need to be spaced out, and I need to get a tray off the bench into the tent so they don't dry out so fast. Hibiscus is greening up and growing new leaves, the top of it looks good too but you can't see that. ;)

  26. Planted couple dozen leeks in between carrots, trying the method by which some plants grow well together. Will find a partner for tomatoes. Bought a quid's worth box of tomato seeds 'add water and grow' at the local quidshop, we'll see.

Cauliflower is growing nicely, have ONE black bean plant, four white beans, butter bean have not yet shown up, Pinto beans also happy and growing. Spuds also and... grape! Six vines, all with leafage. Pear bursting with flowers, two apples of unknown sort also.

While digging up the drainagechannel, found a few leeches, two of which were moved to the pond.

Weather not friendly at the moment.
